Mike still doesn't realize the one reason why he won't get traded and that is Tom Brady.
This Gronk trade talk by the media is really getting annoying.

Is Gronkowski still available in trade?

He's not the only one. Bedard, Curran and other locals also haven't completely dismissed the possibility.

I haven't completely dismissed I won't win the next MegaMillions either...but maybe I should.

Bedard is starting to trend into the Felger & Mazz World of Looney Tunes

Possible? Sure.

Likely? No.

I dont get your point about Brady. The only person who has any say if someone gets traded is BB. Not even Kraft has that power unless he wants to look for a new coach. So Brady most certainly has no impact on a possible Gronk trade.

Also the writing for Gronk is on the wall. Sooner or later he will get traded depending on the offers that come in. Unless BB completely breaks with how he has been running the team (or Gronk takes a big discount, lol) there is not much hope for Gronk to get another extension. So moving an attractive asset "a year early" and getting something in return is an extremely obvious move. Especially if that asset tends to break often and is a big hit to his back away from retirement.

In the end as everything else this will end up being a question of value in terms of what is offered.

The bored, idle press need something to do to justify their salaries during the off season.. so let's start another Gronk rumor.

This stuff is award winning

Don't give Florio the clicks!

So can we now call him whorio?

I'm sure this has been brought up in other threads, but to me the most likely reason they haven't signed on the dotted line for a new deal is that the Patriots want to wait as long as possible. Deals can't be restructured twice in one year, so the longer they wait, the later on in the offseason he can try to pressure them for a new deal again.

On the other hand, the longer you wait, the more huge contracts signed by other TEs and WRs push his demands up.

Florio's piece makes no sense about Gronkowski retiring. Florio acts like $8 million is no big deal to Gronk, which is absurd. Gronk is healthy, in a great spot right now to extend his deal. Given his injury history, he may not have the kind of leverage after the 2018 season that he enjoys right now. He'll get his extension.

Missing voluntary OTAs is a red herring for the long-term veterans. The rookies, second year guys and new FAs need that time around the team and this system. Brady and Gronk don't. They are fitness and strength freaks who know this offense inside and out. When you go to the AFCC and/or the Super Bowl every year, the lack of down time is significant compared to players on other teams. Gronk and Brady and Edelman and McCourty and other players who have been around here for the last five or six years need a break from the grind. Missing voluntary OTAs is not a big deal, especially for guys on offense who are in the same system with Scar and McDaniels.

I'm not so sure about that.

I refuse to read Florio's piece but I might be one of the few who would not be surprised in the least if Gronk was traded before the start of the season.

With the exception of Tom, the only other players to get "big" money contracts after the age of 28 here were Wilfork, Mankins, Moss, Revis and Adalius Thomas. There is no doubt Gronk is in that company but as you say with his injury history and still a year remaining on his current deal, I don't see the Pats motivated to give him a mega-extension. Maybe they add a year or two to spread out the cap hit but that is it and it won't be for big money.

Pats have 23 free agents next year including potential big ticket items in Shaq and Trey. They might even try to give Tom a big chunk of change.

Ok for who? Taking a risk considering this offense will be without Edelman for four games.

Yup! I would also love to know what is being offered....

Say it is someone like Aaron Donald......I might be interested...
