Always fun and a good day to do it before the Giants talk really amps up.

Mid season awards for the Patriots and maybe league.

What are they and who gets them?

Some of my feelings

Patriots awards

MVP - Brady
DPOTY - Hightower (Collins and Jones also get a nod but so far Hightower is my pick)
OPOTY - Gronk (I am not letting MVP win this too... Almost gave it to Edelman... Maybe I should)
ROTY - Andrews (Undrafted guy takes it.. Mason missed too much time and Brown got off to a bit of a slow start... Not a reflection of the draft class being bad.. Just Andrews being a find).
Play of the Year - Lewis with his 10 yard TD catch and run vs Dallas. That was just plain sick.... Although that 3rd and 17 he did might be a good option too.

For NFL

MVP - Brady
DPOTY - Josh Norman - CB - Panthers. Right now is the best CB in the NFL With Watt having a down year also the best player to this point. Runner ups - Watt
OPOTY - Devonta Freeman - RB - Runner ups - Gronk, Julio Jones,
OROTY - Gurley - Runner up Amari Cooper
DROTY - Marcus Peters - runner up Leonard Williams

Looks good to me...but I think Gronk is OPOTY ahead of Freeman. I wish the NFL would exclude QBs from OPOTY, since they almost always win the MVP anyway.

Between passes and runs, Freeman has been targeted 226 times. Gronk has been targeted 68 times. Not fair to compare their cumulative numbers; Gronk makes a bigger impact on any given play.

When you put Blount’s season in perspective it has been terrific. Blount missed week 1 for smoking to many blunts, carried the ball 2 times against Buffalo, and 3 times against the Jets. The way I see it he has played 5 games this season, in those games he has 93 carries for 446 yards and 5 touchdowns. For fun lets do the projections over a full season – 1427 yards and 16 touchdowns.

I normally don't care about these awards, but it would be priceless if Brady is named MVP prior to February hearings. It would make the NFL look that much more pathetic.

A few other notables:

Ryan Allen, LVP... least visible punter.

Patrick Chung, JAGSPBTSOAAS... JAG somehow possessed by the soul of an All-Star.

Dave DeGuglielmo, McGyver Award. Created an offensive line from paper clips and duct tape.

Jamie Collins: Spider-Man.

(That's not an award. Thats a statement of fact. )

I think the only reason watt is considered to be having a down year is because the Texans suck.
