Remember it's the Cubs....Wait until he has arm trouble like many other Cubs' pitchers and then he can switch back to football in a few years. If the Pats use one of those extra seventh round picks on him, do they lose the rights if they don't sign him in a year or is it kept so that if/when he decides to Bo Jackson/Deion Sanders/Gene Conley/Chuck Connors (now I'm really dating myself) it or switch to football full time, they have his rights.....???

Neither. I've watched Samardzija for years, and don't see a lot there for NFL prospects.

Selfishly, I want us to go the route of my buddy LaMarr Woodley. LaMarr could be a force on the outside for us for years, pressuring the QB, and using his athleticism. Plug him in Willie's old role, and I would be a happy guy.

Plus, I could make new t-shirts for the Pats...
