What exactly is his role. I first thought that he was splitting time with Wilson at FS, with Sanders getting all the snaps at SS. Then I saw him and Wilson out there together and Sanders. Is he getting time at CB? For some reason the nationally televised games have the worst presentation and they only show the box, not the whole defensive formation.

I was at the game and didnt see him take a single snap on defense. maybe he did on special teams.

we never seemed to go to a dime. just a nickel w both assante and gay out there.

apparently Merriweather blew his position on that Jets touchdown to Coles (?) where everyone said Colvin blew the coverage. Colvin actually was covering him short and released him to the safety behind him doh!! Apparently the videotape showed Merrieweather moving across the field incorrectly after a Jets shift, and Eugene Wilson, signalling for him to get his ass back over the other side, too late!

I think the Pats secondary is a tough system to learn. Merriweather may not be ready yet.......

Meriweather has primarily served as a nickel and dime back. I saw him in on one or two plays last night. He hasn't been splitting time with Wilson. He might have filled in for a handful of plays in the first game, but Wilson has been playing almost every play.

Look what we did without Rodney, imagine when he comes back! Meriweather will benefit from his return as well.

I think we may see the return of the Big Nickel when RH comes back, with Rodney playing near the line of scrimmage on 3d downs

Did anybody except Samuel/Hobbs/Gay/Wilson/Sanders in the secondary get very many snaps?

I assume that in games where there are a lot of nickel snaps, more than 5 DBs will get in just for rotational purposes. But it seems that wasn't the mix against a team whose biggest offensive weapons are a TE and RB.

I saw him running all over the place covering kicks/punts last night. Didn't see him get a tackle, but he was right there by the returner.

Meriweather's "ROLE" is to do whatever the Pats coaches tell him while learning anything and everything he can about playing safety and corner in the NFL.

So far, I have not seen Meriweather lined up at either the LCB or RCB position. I've seen him on the field in both Nickel and Dime formations.

I remember him making a tackle on a play to either Jackson or Gates last night as the Chargers were moving from left to right.

On EEI earlier today, BB said they ran very little nickel, so that would explain a more limited role.

There's enough talent that I do not expect we will need him as much as we needed Wilson in his rookie year.

His role looks to be purely nickel or dime DB with responsibility for the slot guy.

I wonder if later in the year BB will blitz him from that position? Hmmmmm! Just a thought.

You must not have paid much attention, Meriweather was on on more than one defensive play and I know this for sure.

Also, Hobbs was out there all game, it was Samuel who was in and out.

And, I don't remember for sure but I don't think the Safety or DB on that Coles TD was Meriweather.

Yup, I couldn't remember if it was Gates or Jackson either but he tackled one of them, lol!

Saw Meriweather out there a few times. R Gay had a very solid game IMO.
