Meet Our Free Safety

Jon Jones played some yesterday facing the offense. I think this defense is a lot like it was under Bill, they don't want you knowing who the free safety is on any given play. They disguise it well, and their players have the versatility to play everywhere.
I said that myself. They don't stay in the same formation each snap. They disguise so you Don't know who the FS is. A great defense does this. You never want to give the same look to a QB.

The secondary is who we thought they would be. Still a long season but I feel validated today lol.

Funny u mentioned.. I once met Wheatley in a market basket.. at the deli.. he was telling me that the defense was so complex to run and that Mayo and Vince were the main ones who helped him out.

Is that the Market Basket at East Milton Square? My sister saw Brady there a few times during his first couple of seasons when he & others were living at Marina Bay in Quincy…

The market basket I saw him was in Somerville in 2009. That would make sense he would have been in the Milton area during that time as he was living in Quincy off Quincy shore drive.

This was inevitable. Austin is a good guy to have at the very end of the roster, but not a major contributor.
Austin will likely solidify that 2nd outside CB if Marco can't take a strong hold of it.

The secondary is the strength of this team. As it has been for several years.
Dline would've challenged for superiority if Barmore hadn't suffered the blood clots.
Him and White would be wreakin' havoc.
Mayo has a great defensive mind- that's straight from the GOAT HC's mouth

Gonzo, M Jones, and J Jones play ahead of Marco (#4) and Austin (#5). Jaylinn Hawkins was on the field ahead of Marco. I am not sure what you mean by 2nd outside CB, but being #4 means he is an occaisonal sub. Marco played less than 20% of the game if I remember correctly. I would say that Marco is not matched up against the 2nd outside CB.

Meaning the outside CB spot. But you just answered it for me as you said J. Jones was in that spot.

Hawkins played a good game. Not exactly how I envisioned his use but the Pats also were much more advanced in their deployment than I expected them to be under Mayo and Covington. They are a lot closer to Belichick's level than I anticipated. Let's see if they are at his level when it comes to adjusting for your opponent week-over-week, in-game adjustments, taking away what the other team does best, etc.

Your right as @Zuma pin pointed neither were on the field much.
Dont give up on your boy yet he'll be needed at some point we used the third safety more than 4th corner Sunday but that might not always be the case. For another matchup we could choose to go more CB centric.

And injuries inevitably happen too and Austin needs to be ready to take advantage.
