Ok.. The idea that the McNally/Jastremski texts support the idea that Tom Brady had a hand in the deflating of the footballs below the 12.5 psi is just absurd.

I think it is safer to say that Tom was tolerating these two idiots.

If you look at pages 14 and 15 of the report, those messages are clear that they are willfully tampering with the balls to Brady's DISLIKE if Brady doesn't give them what they want..

Hopefully, these texts lead to the dismissal of McNally and Jastremski because it's tantamount to blackmail what they were doing..

Hi--I thought the same. In addition, there are several more things getting overlooked in the lamebrain media's reporting of this:

They keep pointing to references to needles, the deflator nickname, gifts of shoes, etc. What people have not mentioned AT ALL is that deflation etc. BEFORE they are given to the refs is perfectly permissible. If their job is to get balls ready, and a lot of work goes into it, then of course Brady might give them little gifts, etc. (Indeed, it is not clear from the texts that these references to gifts were not completely sarcastic--but even if serious, that would not be any more inappropriate than someone giving a gift certificate to a secretary or something like that for a job well done).

In addition, it is said that one ball before the Jets game in the Fall tested at 16 (this was their report, not officials). It seems entirely possible to me that the attendants had learned to not trust the refs measurements, and had taken it upon themselves to take a bit of air out to avoid them being unfairly overinflated. This would still be a violation, BUT it would be a violation that occurred because people were try to compensate for officials' error. There is NOTHING ANYWHERE in the report that every has them saying they aimed to go below 12.5--in fact, they claim that is what they aimed for. It is possible they DID amper, BUT only because they had learned that the NFL carelessly overinflates balls, and tthey wanted to be sure that they were at the minimum (and perhaps went a little below in the process). This would be a violation, BUT it would put a much different context on it.

Finally, the claim that it is suspicious because of all of Brady;s texts in the 2 days after the event after months of no contact-well no DUH, of course he might contact them to find out what might have happened after the accusation was made. If one was innocent they might just as easily contact the attendant to seek an explanation, as much as if they were guilty.

I'm more confused if anything after reading those texts. How the general public can come to the conclusion that he likes the balls under 12.5 is a mystery to me. It seems he likes them overinflated at 16 psi. Just not sure and honestly I just don't care to be honest.

It more shows that he doesn't like them overinflated. It's equivalent to someone saying they aren't attracted to 80 year old women, and having that used as evidence that they're a pedophile.

The only text that really bothers me was the one from McNally stating (and I'm paraphrasing here):

"Don't worry..... I'm not going to espn..... yet..."

I could play devil's advocate for nearly all the other texts (regardless of whether I believe my own argument or not), but this one is tough...

I think reading the text that Brady was pissed that in the Jets game a ball was found to be 16psi and let them know he didn't like that....one of them got defensive and said F Brady...next time he'll be throwing balloons or something to that effect.

Brady doesn't like his footballs inflated on the high end...end of story.

I believe that Robert Kraft drew a line in the sand and when the NFL league office and Ted Wells rushed across it he said " gosh, I wish you hasn't done that, but go ahead and punish us even though the investigation and report is garbage. " I believe he should have said the report is garbage and that the Patriots don't accept it and are hiring counsel to investigate the investigation and subsequent report as well as the league office. He has essentially invited the league office to shred the Patriots once again instead of saying that they learned from Spygate that going along to get along does more damage than good. No more eating sh.t sandwiches made by Kensil and delivered by Goodell.

The only text that really bothers me was the one from McNally stating (and I'm paraphrasing here):

"Don't worry..... I'm not going to espn..... yet..."

I could play devil's advocate for nearly all the other texts (regardless of whether I believe my own argument or not), but this one is tough...

I think that's an extreme take on it DaBruinz, but I agree with the rest of your sentiment.

It's still very possible to me that the Patriots did no wrongdoing. The science leaves that open, the report is not satisfying in this regard. If there is wrongdoing, it is still very possible that Brady had no part of it, or full understanding of it. The texts suggest that Brady wanted the balls at the low-end of the permissible range, and nothing more.

What's funny is that the courts wouldn't even allow Odin Lloyd's texts as evidence in a murder trial, but a PSI investigation thinks they're damning.

If there is wrongdoing, it is still very possible that Brady had no part of it, or full understanding of it. I think those read as jokes. Jokes that actually support Brady's case that he was not aware of any wrong-doing, if it even existed.

Best I could infer from that crap, Wells is asserting some "hostile work environment" theory created by Brady leading to predictable results, specifically footballs below NFL PSI limits. He does this through inferences (lousy) on messages, Brady giving these guys memorabilia (was that the norm, or exception?), and non-responses. While that type of information might survive summary judgment in a civil court, it is highly doubtful that would justify a civil judgment in favor of the claimant.

I got through about 50 pages of that crap, including the 'scientific' analysis, and lost interest having seen enough litigation report hit jobs in my time. This is worse than those.

This guy is part of a law firm. Is there a deposition of the targets in the investigation? Is Brady asked the pointed question "Did you direct the PSI of the footballs be reduced below 12.5 PSI? Were you aware these two intended to carry that out for you? Brady didn't decline to talk. He declined to give them access to his phone (last I checked, if the targets gave the phone over and they are looking for messages from Brady, then they already have the information because messages are sent and received). If I were Brady, I wouldn't want these clowns anywhere near my personal messages, because if he is not exactly the perfect faithful husband, then this clown camp will definitely be leaking that garbage to the media leading to worse effects than the present innuendo. In any event, I expect his satisfaction/dissatisfaction with the equipment guys would be relayed directly at the facility, which would appear to make depositions the appropriate vehicle to capture that information.

I totally read those text in a different light. They talked about the Jets game balls being 16 psi and Brady had a hard time with them. So I took all the banter to be Tom wanted the balls to be a higher psi so he could practice with them before the Chicago game, just in case it happens again!
And yes, a pair of idiots joking around in text messages, something I have never done.
