McDaniels among those being sought to interview for Arkansas HC job

Source for your claim he will be the next coach of the Patriots.

My imagination.

But, didn't McDaniels just buy a multi million dollar house.....why would he do that if he was toying with Arkansas.

BTW, why is Arkansas pronounced the way it is.

Shouldnt it be pronounced like this... Are Kansas. There is no "saw" in the spelling. :singing:

If McDaniels somehow ends up taking that job I think we should hunt down Petrino, tie him to a motorcycle, and send it off a cliff at 150 mph.

Seems to me that it's a given that a guy like Josh is going to be in demand, so the Pats had to have anticipated something like this.

I find it hard to imagine that the Pats and McDaniels didn't have at least a gentlemen's agreement, if not a contract requirement, to the effect that he had to spend a specified minimal time employed by the Patriots before moving on.

You would probably have to wait in a very long line for the opportunity to do this. Incidentally, Mrs. Petrino is already at the front of the line.

...and right behind her are several thousand Atlanta Falcons fans.

I seriously doubt any validity to this report. McDaniels would be a fool. He will be the next HC of the Patriots so why screw around with a college football team?

Screw up and you have the alumni all over your ass. Ask Charlie Weis.
Yes and NFL fans are just oh-so-forgiving of HC's who stink.

It's probably an Indian thing...

Or should Kansas be pronounced Kan-saw

If McDaniels wanted the Arkansas job, why has he just bought a $2m home in the area?

Or does he have that kind of money to throw around on a 2nd home?

It is worth noting when Josh left the first time, he could have gotten an NFL head coaching gig a year earlier. Given Josh and BB's close relationship, and Josh's prior experience as a head coach, I think Josh's role will be more than that of a typical OC. The return of Josh dramatically changed the heirarchy of the Pat's coaching staff, and the evolution of this heirarchy over the next few years should be very intriguing. I sincerely doubt McD will accept a College HC position for the forseeable future.

I think your assumption is entirely wrong. I do not think it is accurate that he had HC job offers a year earlier.

McDaniels would have to be pretty dumb to take that job, when the alternative is to stick around, be the OC for a few more of the highest-scoring offenses in NFL history, and eventually become head coach for the best owner in the NFL.

A HC job today vs hoping for one in the future are 2 very different things.

Don't tell that to the members of the latest deluded cult who live in some odd alternate reality where they have convinced themselves that Josh Mcdaniels not only is contractually obligated to succeed Belichick but that it would be a good thing and are almost looking forward to it.

It's beginning to take on a Randy Moss or Tim Tebow thread level of foolishness.

If that is what they want to believe is going to happen, why get all angry about it? They are entitled to their opinion. There certainly is as much to support that may be the plan as there is to refute it.
I would hope that when BB decides to hang them up that we get a hand picked, personally groomed successor.
At this point, I would suppose McDaniels would be a likely candidate for HC in training. Of course, a lot can happen along the way.

When did this announcement that McDaniels is going to be the next HC of the NEP take place? Gee I think that would have been bigger news when it was made.

And I'm entitled to my opinion.

And I'm not at all angry about.

There's nothing to support it except wild baseless speculation because of home purchase.

I see not point in speculating who will replace Belichick and if I was am not at all excited of the possibility of it being McDaniels.

Yes but it appears your opinion is that you want to trash their opinion.

And I'm not at all angry about.
When you make comments such as

you appear to be driven by anger.

Sure there is. He is clearly well respected by BB. He has received the majority of his coaching education from BB. He has been very successful as an assistant for BB.
It makes sense that BB would like toi groom a successor if possible. McDaniels is by far the top candidate if that is the case.

I get you don't like him, but its kind of naive to not think that BB would be forward thinking enough to train his own replacement, and while we have no clue how long it could be, out of the current staff its plain as day, if he is training one McDaniels would be him.

It is equally naive to assume that there would be any promises made in order to lure him to the best job he could get. I am sure though, that it is something he is competing for every day.

If Bill OBrien doesn't leave for Penn State Josh McDaniels isn't even here.

What's naive is to think that McDaniels somehow leveraged himself from Offensive Coordinator of the last ranked offense in the league to the contractual successor to Belichick. Why would the Patriots limit themselves to a guy who had a failed stint as a head coach and a year as OC of the 32nd ranked offense?

The Patriots have more business sense than to do that, It's like going all in on a jack high hand in poker.

When the time comes maybe he is considered for the job but no way would they commit to him now.
