He’s my second choice.
He’s my first choice.

And fir Goodness sake, bring in the young but up and comer from the Cardinals to coach a position group in offense: William Peagler!

The guy is almost 100% the reason Kenneth Walker went from being a decent RB at Wake Forest to sensational at Michigan State. Peagler is exceptional smart. His rise up the coaching ranks shows it.

Some day he’ll be an OC for a pro team.

Bill also thought judge and Patricia could run an offense, not saying I don’t like the idea but Caley has been out the system for one season… I would prefer other candidates but like the approach of the OC search so far
We're getting a lot of NEW this offseason. But we can't forget we'll probably have at least 60% of the same offensive players next year, so some continuity with language is beneficial. People think it's either one language/system or another. But, you can keep the same language and install any type of scheme or play designs - it's just easier for players to learn by having some continuity of system/language.

So, Caley is very familiar with what is established, but could still diversify the offense and design in anyway they want.

And BTW - the "Perkins - JMD" wasn't bad! They owned the NFL for 20 years. Sure it was with Brady who ran it, but the overall sentiment here has been that the Pats offense system is trash. No, it's just the last few guys to run it (coach & QB) have been trash.
It's quicker and more efficient to update/remodel something than burn it and start all over.

I would love to know what’s Mayos plan for the offense.

A lot of that depends upon who your qb is. Good chance either Maye or Daniels is the guy. They have some similarities but
are obviously different. An offense that plays up the qb's strengths.
And you don't have to completely change the offense right away. Ideally, the rookie sits for a year and learns while the rest of the offense gets their feet wet with a slightly different offense. That way in 2025, the qb steps in ready and his ol,recs and backs have had a year to implement it. That greatly maximizes offenses chance for success.
Of course, things don't always work out ideally. Maybe whoever the stopgap qb is really stinks the joint up and Mayo gets pressured to put rookie qb in. Imo that would be a mistake but **** happens

Drew lock, Josh Dobbs, Justin Fields, Ryan Tannneill, could all run a RPO.
I’m going to say it as well Cam Newton.

I want nothing to do with Lock & Fields.
Dobbs or Tannehill, maaaaaaaybe... only if we end up drafting a guy at #3, and need a short term vet as the rookie gets up to speed.

They are very different QBs, one offense isn't necessary going to work for both of them. Mayo needs to pick a OC be believes in, then implore the guys that will be running the draft to pick guys that will work with what the OC wants to do.

You will be picking the OC first, let that dictate the draft

From that article:

"Mayo wants the Patriots to run the kind of quarterback-friendly scheme popularized by Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan. Almost every offensive coordinator he has considered has spent some time working in one of those systems. They are in vogue in the NFL right now. They feature a lot of 11 personnel with three wide receivers on the field at the same time and utilize motion and condensed formations. The goal is to make reads easy for the quarterback and let him play within timing and rhythm."

Sounds like he’s setting up the kind of offense a Rookie qb could easily acclimate to.
It’s gotta be Qb in the third.

I don’t think Mac is coordinated enough to run that kind of Offense.

Ben Johnson is staying in Detroit

so that just closed him potentially going to be the OC wherever Johnson went or taking over for Johnson in Detroit. Engstrand obviously is looking to be an OC or he wouldn't be taking interviews.

i think this is wise of him.

I mentioned in another thread that I thought that Mayo should look at Warren Ruggerio out of Wake Forest or Josh Gattis out of Miami. Also Matt Luke for the OL if Klemm truly is gone.

Ben Johnson is loyal AF.
Who now slides into a HC spot?

Zac Robinson is out, I don;t blame him. The rot from Bill's negligence runs deep, and I am not sure Mayo's being a fine fella and the owner's buddy is gonna turn it around.

Who confirmed we ever offered him the job?
I saw an article saying he turned us down but it looked like click bait.
I don’t think anything was official.

are we going to keep blaming bb for stuff after he's gone as well? the team has a great defensive roster,a lot of cap space and the #3 pick. what "rot" is there now that would discourage anyone?
