How about trading pick 3 to Atlanta in exchange for pick 8, their 2nd rounder and Kyle Pitts?

Atlanta gets to take Jayden Daniels, NE picks up an extra second and a starter at TE. They take a LT at 8, then can target an RT and a high end WR2 with their two 2nds. They can send their 3rd or 4th to Chicago for Fields. Sign a WR1 in free agency.

Now you have QB, TE, LT, RT, WR1 and WR2 addressed and still have cap room left to make some other signings, and can go Best Player Available with your 4th rounder onward.
No way Atlanta does that trade. We’d have to include a 2nd or 3rd and/or a future swap

They really need a QB, though. Maybe 3 for 8+Pitts+a 3rd.

They are an ideal trade partner but I doubt they include any players in such a deal.
I was just drawing a comp to the Bears trade for 1 that included DJ Moore last year. But it doesn’t HAVE to include a player. They could also just do 3 for 8+a 2nd+a 3rd, or a future 2nd, or something

Another team trying to trade up for a QB is Denver.
If we trade down we better get a haul for it.
Aren’t free agent WRs going to want to know who is going to throw them the ball here?

I’d try and get their 8th this year and first rounder next year (“show us how confident you are you just need a QB”) and a 3rd.

Good call on DJ Moore in that deal. Man Chicago raked them over the coals.

BIG TIME, their GM deserves a raise

Throw in a 3rd round pick in 2025? Also, I would make Pitts WR (which he should have been used as from day 1) given that's he's 6'6 245 and ran a 4.40 40. Calvin Johnson was 6'5 240 and ran a 4.35 40.

Ross, you should be sending your resume In to patriots place.. because I'll say with that idea right there you could be the GM! Love that scenario!!. I know some posters may be against it.. but I really do think we should be looking at fields. Becuase that scenario you painted I think is realistic. Bill isn't there in Atlanta so if we did pitch that I'd think they'd entertain?

Reports that he doesn’t want to and the Pats don’t even plan to pursue him as “they know he’s a goner”.

What reports are those? Link?

With the Generational talent that MHJ is supposed to be, no. I'm not impressed with what Pitts has done to this point. He can't run block and he's ok the few times he's been asked to pass block. He had 8 pass block snaps last season.

Ross.. Why do the Pats need to add a WR 1 and a WR2.. Or are you just throwing out the entire current receiving corps with the exception of Douglas?

Chicago is getting a second maybe even a first for Fields.
A lot of desperate teams need a QB.

Doesn’t need to be a WR2 with that other pick, it could be a TE, safety, or some other needy position. I just mentioned WR2 because it’s a good WR class.

That’s not happening, there’s other QBs to take. Fields still needs to develop a bit more and only has one cheap year left. I think his ceiling in trade value is a 3rd.

We will see.
