I like the wide net that’s being cast.

One of people’s concerns about Mayo’s relative lack of coaching experience was the perception that he had a limited network, coaching for just 5 years all at the same place. By casting such a wide net, this might be Mayo’s way of building that network - interviewing them, finding out about their methods at a high level, building relationships. So may not have roles for them now, but if Mayo has a reasonably long leash and ultimately some success, he’ll have that network in place for future openings.

100 percent this is a business approach.
I think Mayo is the right guy to bulld relationships and motivate.
My biggest concern about this hire is the revolving door at OC we are more than likely going to go thru.

I think building continuity for your QB is the key to lasting success in the NFL.
Therefore I would have chose an offensive HC. I think we could of kept Mayo with a head of defense title d coordinator.

Highly regarded ST coach. Panthers had denied multiple requests by teams wanting to interview him for their vacant ST position but new HC seemingly wants to put his own stamp on his staff. Go get him, Jerod!

Excellent special teams record and head coaching experience, even though it was on an interim basis. Worth interviewing, I would think.

This Brian Fleury guy has much more experience as a defensive coach than a couple years as a TE coach. I think we've had enough defensive coaches moving on over.

The Patriots reportedly interviewed a "trusted assistant" for Kyle Shanahan for their offensive coordinator position.

Fleury joined the 49ers in 2019 as a defensive quality control coach. He then spent the next two seasons as an offensive quality control coach before taking his current role in San Francisco. Before he joined the 49ers, he spent three seasons with the Miami Dolphins as the team’s football research analyst and director of football research. He also has experience as the Cleveland Browns’ outside linebackers coach in 2015 and the quality control coach of the Buffalo Bills in 2013. Buffalo Bills.

With little talent across the board and a defensive-minded head coach, the New England Patriots need an offensive coordinator who can run the entire operation on his own. Luckily for them, one of the best is still available.

The amazing thing is this guy's special teams unit had one of the worst rankings in the NFL and he is very coveted by the Patriots, but doesn't want to come.

Probably doesn't want to uproot his family, and is waiting to see if if he'll keep his job.

He intrigues me but my gut says it’s Caley.
I felt Obrein style of offense was boring and stale.
We have to look better.

I don't remember where, but I said something similar..TEs are in every phase of the offense, one the reasons there can be a steep curve for them, but also the reason the positional coaches make the jump to OC.
