This is the prick In me talking I hope he doesn’t get a job anywhere else in the NFL.
And is coaching for a minor league team in Alaska.
I know the family. Kids were on a team together, and classmates. Good people.

Didn’t ask him about it and won’t. But, given the OC not being desired news, my hunch is there is no confidence around the league in leadership/direction around the Pats.

Given the way things are being handled, can’t say I don’t agree.

Feels like amateur hour.

I also suspect he has a job in Atl still if he wants it.

We have great schools, affluent area, good weather.

I’d choose here too.

You don’t waste people’s time interviewing for experience. That’s not interviewing in good faith.
Sometimes you go into an interview not sure if you want the job, and you don't know for sure until during the interview.

I've had plenty of interviews that I wasn't sure about the job but did it because there was a chance I could be convinced and if not it would be good experience/practice.

He could have went in with the idea that the Pats would need to blow him away with money or the promise of future growth to take the position.

Wait…like teams interviewing minority candidates they have no intention of hiring is good faith? Come on man. It’s a game and they all have to play.

I’ve turned down dozens of opportunities after interviews (in my employee days), or meetings with possible partners. Has to be a mutual fit.

Yes but they’re playing the leverage game. A game BB lost evidently. Screw it, there’s a hot college offensive mind out there dying for a shot in the big leagues. If Kraft wants top NFL talent, stop playing money games and pay them.
My biggest concern is that RK won't do that. But, you're right though.

Genuine question, where is the notion that the Krafts don’t pay coaches come from?

BB was the highest paid coach in football if not in American sport all together and they paid McDaniels like an HC to keep him when he was heading to Indy.

Wonder if the delays have anything to do with BB and his quest to be a HC, maybe the choices are/would be McDaniels & Steve Belichick. All are in limbo as BB does not have a HC job, it does not look like he will, when that final decision is made then things will fall into place.

I can see it in the defensive side of the ball with the Belichicks and Pelegrino that probably were waiting to see what Bill would do.

On the offensive side, I don’t think McDaniels is in Mayo’s plan. I think it will be Robinson if he wants to come here or at worst Caley.

Highly regarded ST coach. Panthers had denied multiple requests by teams wanting to interview him for their vacant ST position but new HC seemingly wants to put his own stamp on his staff. Go get him, Jerod!

Based on everything and nothing, I do feel like Mayo is being set up to fail here. Not because we are bringing in coaches from outside, but it seems like we're scraping the bottom of the barrel for coaches. As a first time coach somewhat short on experience (though with a lot more than Bobby Hill), Mayo needs people who have an exacting eye and who can teach the fundamentals. Given all the extra attention he has to pay to all facets now, this is not looking good on offense. OC, WRs, OL, RBs, TEs, all need addressing. On the defensive side it will be interesting. They'll need a new LB and DL coach. I'm assuming Pellegrino stays since they had an excellent unit. They'll need another DB coach.

Yeah this just tells me that the guy believes he is being kept by Morris now. When the Pats interviewed him, Morris wasn’t in the picture - the narrative was that it was Belichick’s job and he probably would’ve brought Achord or Judge over. So this Williams would’ve been out of a job. Things have changed since then.
The amazing thing is this guy's special teams unit had one of the worst rankings in the NFL and he is very coveted by the Patriots, but doesn't want to come.

Yeah I get it, but I'm sure people said the Lions would never be able to attract quality coaches either. Things change.
No matter who ends ups up as OC, it's all about the team we put on the field in September... alot to do before then.
