I believe you were misinformed... He got 1 recorded tackle, all year.
not sure if anyone mentioned this but the pats basically drafted both ROY this year. if you dont understand what i mean i will explain but its pretty cool to think that its all connected to us
Mayo deserved it. It's rare that a rookie comes in and starts and plays every snap. His performance during the Jets game was especially great. Too bad the secondary lost it for us in OT. 3rd and 16... come on!!
Well, the Bengals Keith Rivers received the other vote. He, of the broken jaw back in October. Not sure if he missed the rest of the season or not, but either way, he missed lots of time. That said, consider the vote unanimous, as the writer or broadcaster should be :banned:from voting.
I wish I had a good insightful reason for it. But it was just a mistake that I didn't realize until after the vote came out.
When it came time to turn in the votes Monday, I was working on a Chargers playoff piece on Philip Rivers at the same time. I switched back to my early DROY watch list, which included Mayo and Rivers, and was going back and forth from the two screens.
I had Rivers on my mind, kept Keith Rivers' name on the voting balloting, and deleted Mayo.
My bad. Obviously Mayo is the clear choice -- I'm a UCLA honk so giving Rivers' that vote is really troubling!
