Mayo concedes it's been a tough week

Best Bizzarro world quote:

"It's been pretty rough, but we have to right the ship, and that's the plan," Mayo said today, adding that to make it happen, it'll take "a lot of hard work, everyone committing a lot of time, more time to football. That's what we're gonna do."

That's why Thomas thought Tom Brady's presence on Wednesday -- hours after his second son was born -- was meaningful.

"It is," Mayo said. "Having a guy like him lead by example is huge. A guy like me, I don't have any (family) up here, so I'm good. I can come up here whenever."

I think the software glitch was Reiss, lol.

Glad the someone on the defense is starting to speak up. Hopefully Mayo can emerge as one of the new leaders for the defense along with Wilfork

It sure seemed at the start of the season that Mayo was poised to carry the defense on his shoulders.

Even if he has returned to 100% physical health--which, judging from his performance, I sincerely doubt--I'm sure that spending much of the first part of the season rehabbing has set him back in at least that regard.

Somebody needs to step up and lead this team, there is way too much jaw flapping for a BB team.....

Mayo needs to step up and be more vocal. There's a huge leadership void right now.

It is going to Be even Worse if the DFENSE Doesnt step Up and Get THE Pass Rush On My Opinion Looks Like the Vrabel Trade and seymour Trades WHere Busts To bad we have no Pass rush and after what Adalius Thomas said Yesterday He may not Play.

Have you noticed AD "playing" all season? We lose nothing if he's not on the field, IMO. He hasn't given us much when he's been on it.

Addition by subtraction.

Start making some plays Jerod like we expect from the 10th overall pick in his second year instead of talking. Do it on the field ! Enough of the hole fill tackles after 5-8 yard gains.

Mayo's definitely a future leader. It's his game I"m worried about. He has been a non-factor more often than not this year. Not good for someone Bill PoliON thinks is the next Ray Lewis.

Mayo's numbers have not been great. However, he has been the spy on many plays.

any time you get hurt in the middle of the season, it can throw your conditioning routine off ....... I hope

what the pats need is a john belushi animal house type speech out of BB......

Thomas: War's over, man. Sparano dropped the big one.
BB:Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!
Brady: Germans?
Faulk: Forget it, he's rolling
BB: And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the goin' gets tough... the tough get goin'! Who's with me? Let's go!
[runs out, alone; then returns]
BB: What the f*ck happened to the PAtriots I used to know? Where's the spirit? Where's the guts, huh? This could be the greatest night of our lives, but you're gonna let it be the worst. "Ooh, we're afraid to go with you Bluto, we might get in trouble." Well just kiss my @ss from now on! Not me! I'm not gonna take this. McDaniel, he's a dead man! Sparano, dead! Polian...
Brady: Dead! BB's right. Psychotic, but absolutely right. We gotta take these bastards. Now we could do it with conventional weapons that could take years and cost millions of lives. No, I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part.
BB: We're just the guys to do it.
Thomas: Let's do it.
BB: *Let’s do it*!

Fauria was talking on the 3rd sport show 94.1 today morning. He was talking about john beason of the pathers. How a similar thing happened when he was their and john beason as a rookie stepped and started talking and taking over the leadeship in his rookie season .

It is obvious mayo is not guy in time maybe but man i john beason ILB was my binky on that draft . I think him and mayo would have made a awesome inside lb now but also understand you cannot have 2 first rds in 2 positions in the middle.

I don't get where Mayo's numbers have been down. He missed several games and has 64 tackles. He also has a 1.5 sacks, and unlike our high priced pass rushers he managed to get to Henne last week. He seems slower than usual at times but he's playing on a bum knee and still a good run-stuffer

64 tackles in 8 games works out to 128 in a 16 game season. Not too bad. Add 3 sacks and several forced fumbles and passes defended, and a solid performance.

Mayo has clearly been playing injured. He's clearly a bit slower than usual, and some of his tackles have been too far behind the LOS. He hasn't gone to the next level the way many expected. And he hasn't stepped up and carried the defense, or made it his own, the way some expected. His injury has clearly slowed him, and the expectations may not have been realistic. But he's certainly an extremely solid player, and I still think he's the future leader of the defense.

I think it's the "quality of tackles" I suppose. I'm in the middle of law school finals right now so I don't have time to dive deep into stats, but how many tackles are for a loss? Tackles as a useful stat doesn't really do it for me anymore. Hell, if I remember correctly, towards the tail end of his career, Bruschi was racking up tons of tackles. They were all just 6, 7, 8 yards downfield.

He has 1 tackle for a loss which was in the first Miami game. He had 12 tackles this past week. Some were after the reciever had caught the ball but a good amount were after just 2-3 yd gains by the RB. the only real bad play I saw was when he whiffed on an easy tackle on 3rd and 5 early in the game, but Meriweather picked Henne off later on the drive so it worked out.

Anyone else here think Guyton has played alot better than Mayo? It seems to me you hear Guytons name alot more than you hear Mayo's. I know Mayo was injured but i mean cmon. He needs to step it up big time.
