Maye shows improvement, Brisket still expected to start

How you play late in tight games can make you elite or not. Comforting to know Brissett is among the worst in the league, worse than one Mac Jones (yay!) anyone want to look at this stat and still think Fields will ever amount to anything?
They need to start Maye, he's just better, by a ton.
And they will rarely be in tight games this season. I’m fairly confident Brissett’s tenure will be short lived. Maye chants will start as early as week 3.

Is why you will see maye daye much sooner than you may want to believe

That chart puts things in perspective. Reality does not match perception for many of the elite QB's represented. Lamar is especially eye opening.
Here's another thing I'll say. People keep mentioning our O line.. Burrow is dependent upon Trent Brown to protect him this season! Trent Brown! I'd rather go with the guys and the unknown then suffer through the 60 million dollar man who quit football in Trent Brown.

Wouldn’t shock me if it became a Russell Wilson/Matt Flynn situation where Brissett ends up never playing.
Great point! Matt Flynn signed a nice deal too with Seattle that season. Wilson being a 3rd rounder as well.

I've always been a believer that the only way to get use to NFL speed is to play at NFL speed. I generally dislike rookie QBs sitting out their rookie year. The arguments that you may ruin a rookie QB generally ring hallow. It is only when you do what the Patriots did to Mac Jones as far as changing the OC to a guy whose never OC'd when the first one worked well with him, taking away offensive weapons, and giving no year to year consistency that it can even be suggested that you might have taken him off the rails.

But even then football is still football. You throw to your WRs and while the terms may change there are only so many routes, so many throws and so many defenses. Many of which have very similar schemes. Either you can play or you can't after a while. Maye to me is raw but he has a lot of tools you like to see. Either he will put them together or he won't. And in the end I won't think it will matter much if we play him week 1 or week 10 when we are completely out of contention. Except it may delay his development a bit. And I want to see what he has now. I don't want to waste this year just so we can come back next year and play him and then assume we need to give him another full year to look at because his rookie year didn't really count.

If he can't hack it I want to know ASAP so we can trade him for whatever we can get and move on.

Fix the offensive line first, then start Maye. Don’t send him out there to get hammered on by defenses because the OL isn’t good enough to protect the QB.

Agreed here. Seeing him with dabol who's a QB whisperer in his own right. And putting Drake through the ringer was awesome.. drake's football IQ, and his confidence is through the moon. I really like this kid, and I believe he's going to be special. Mayo's been saying competition, competition.. if Drake shows AVP convincingly like he's been doing all off season while earning the job I don't see how as an organization you don't start him.

They took him for the next 10 years, not the first 10 weeks. Sending him out there behind a ****ty OL to get the living **** beaten out of him is stupid, period.

Also, there is always the chance of injury to Brissett.

Only difference was that Seattle signed Matt Flynn with an expectation he was their next franchise QB.

The QB makes the line, Brady was sacked 21 times in 2007, 16 in 2009
Matt Cassel sacked an NFL season high 47 in 2008 going 10-6
Was the Oline bad or great? Mind you in 2010 with KC Cassel was sacked only 26 times.

Maye had free runner after free runner after him last year, he'll be fine behind any line, Mac Jones, Jacoby Brissett, they need a good line to have success, Maye does not. He's too good a playmaker, too smart, too good, he's not getting anything beat out of him.

Yep! Also AVPs offense helps the o line the zone scheme takes pressure of the o line.. Dave Andrews said it seems very O line friendly.. Maye's strengths are his IQ, his arm of course, and his ability to make plays when the pocket collapses and he can throw guys open.

He definitely made out. I think a few time later as well.

You are talking about experienced quarterbacks, putting Maye out there before they show they can handle would be idiotic. He’s 20 years old, has mechanics and an offense to figure out, and they have a ****ty OL, at least until they prove otherwise. The desire to rush him out there is a really bad idea.

And the quarterback doesn’t make the line, the line makes the line. You can find instances of quarterbacks making a line look better, but overall it’s a matter of winning personal physical battles.

Juju looks like a TE: Tyqan doesn't look as skinny anymore his frame blended right in with the bunch. A year ago his skinniness would have stood out interesting.

T Thornton really put some pounds on would like to see how how plays with it.

Tyquan is going to have to don't forget about K Boutte either he could be a camp surprise with a NFL year under his belt. Should be some good competition @ WR.
