Maye must play

Jones failed himself. Unfortunately he has proven that he just isn't good.

I am not absolving Jones for his failures, but just pointing out Belichick put on a masterclass on how to do everything possible to ruin a young QB. There is enough blame to go around for Jones' failure in New England.

But don't be surprised if he ends up resurrecting his career somewhere else. I doubt he will ever be anything more than a good, not great starter if he does. But I still think he can be a good QB in the right situation. If Miami trades for him to replace Tua (assuming Tua is out for a really long time), I think he can do well in that offense.

"Brissett has been great at evading pressure and has yet to turn the ball over, but he’s not blameless in the Patriots’ issue with pressure. At 3.25 seconds, he’s second-slowest in time to throw on all dropbacks, including sacks and scrambles. He’s third-slowest, at 2.89 seconds, in time to throw on passing attempts. He’s faced just four pressures in less than 2.5 seconds and 23 pressures in 2.5 seconds or more."

The OL is holding up pretty well under 2.5 seconds, but not longer than that. Unfortunately, Brissett takes 2.89 seconds to throw the ball which is glacially slow. This is where Drake Maye changes the equation significantly - he will read the field faster and get the ball out faster before pressure happens. Will he always make the right read? No. Will he make a few mistakes that lead to picks? Yes. But on average they'll generate a lot more offense.

Have you seen the health of the line? It's about to get a lot worse because we're moving from our barely-ok starters to our backups.

It's not worth it. Some fans of the team want to desperately believe this team was a quick fix at QB so Jones gets all the blame despite how many factors contributed to the awful offense and result.

I clearly see Brissets inability to make decisions and throw the ball. That does not mean I want Maye to start if he is not ready.

2 things can be true. Brisset is too slow but safe and Maye is not ready.
I'm changing my mind about this after seeing how competitive the team is after 2 games. It's not feeling like 4-13 is inevitable if QB play can be improved. The Jets aren't that great, SF got dominated by the Vikings, and Miami is a mess if Tua is out (our next 3 games). If Jacoby's inability to see downfield is one of the big problems with the offense, then give Drake some snaps starting Thursday.

We would be 2-0 if Maye had played, honestly with a chance to be 4-1 easily. Jacoby is slow getting rid of the ball and refuses to throw into tight windows. So the box is stacked against the run and any passing downs the d comes in with their ears pinned back. Jones sucked and couldn't handle pressure. Maye has lived under pressure for his entire college career. Jones couldn't run and throw on the move, that is what Maye excells doing. It is freaking football, we can't go for years with the oh my, he might get hurt crap. It is football and Maye is the best qb. Play him for Christ sake.

Not targeting Douglas even once, is a crime. What was that end around? Was it Osborne, looked like it was run in slow motion.
KJ, Polk and KB are all similar players. I say when KB comes back he won't be playing all the snaps of course. There just needs to be some semblance of a passing attack.

Did I miss injuries? I know Lowe had an issue at the end of the game but not sure if he will actually miss time. AFAIK Sow might come back this week at left guard, and I'm not aware of any issues with Andrews, Robinson, Onwenu, Wallace, or Jordan.

Correct take

Mac Jones isn't that good and his ceiling isn't that good but him looking TERRIBLE is a result of belichick

Mac is supposed to be a regular mid QB that is solid in the regular season but you get tired of in the playoffs A.K.A Andy Dalton.

The roster last season on offense needed a great QB to carry them anywhere. Mac wasn't gonna do it.

I believe maye is ready. If he weren't I believe zapp would had been the back up and Milton on PS.. instead Drake is the #2. shows the team knows Drake is ready as he was already told prepare to be ready to go in at any moment. What's helping Brissett is the o line issues.. there is no continuous continuity we know these guys are great.. but had we had better health on the line we could have better protection IMO. However I don't know how many 120 with receivers having 19 yard we will endure. Have to be able to push the ball.

The team was required to release a hypothetical injury report and it didn't look great for the line. That said, it should be taken with a big grain of salt.

You'd have to wonder. After the Jets game.. does mayo and his coaches say... yeah.. we know the line is a problem.. but would Drake even with the dissary be able to still make plays and push the ball downfield better that what we are seeing now. I think this week is a really important game to determine what best. IMO

The other thing Drake can do well that Brisset cannot do well is throw on the run.

I really think coach is going to use the Jets game to gadge when he believes there need to be a change. If we put up another 120 pass game.. I anticipate Drake starting at SF. What you think?

Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me. What could go wrong against a soft D like the Niners.
