Jamarcus Russell. Biggest arm in NFL history

As the receiver has to make the catch outta bounds Sorry, sorry, I know that's probably not the point. It's just that this kind of fixation leads to making dudes like JaMarcus #1 overall draft picks and dudes like Montana, Brady, and others, to slide down draft boards.

Basically, guys with strong arms are pre-glasses-wearing Wild Thing.

Without the ability to control that power, they're next to worthless.
It's hit and miss, at least from that link on the contests in the 70s, 80s, 90s, and early 2000s for distance.

Testaverde was good at throwing over 70 yards. So was Brett Favre and Randall Cunningham

Then you have strong armed guys that panned out enough to get entered into the competition (probably a total scrub like a Jamarcus Russell wouldn't even be invited) but didn't turn into goof QBs long term and could sling it 70+ yards, guys like Byron Leftwich, Aaron Brooks, and Trent Dilfer.

Cool.

How's that translate to game processing ability?
I would’ve expected that goal post to catch the ball for Christ’s sake, we are in a game situation, not just having fun and trying to hit a goal post from way out.

The video is on Fakebook.

Its like he did not put all he had into the throw. Ya its in shorts and ya there is no pass rush, but it seems like he has an arm.
How silly for a kid just having some fun to put all he had into the throw. He should’ve had a defense out there trying to kill him.

Read what I wrote… 6 years in college only one year as a starter.

He also lost his job to other QB’s twice… sorry, is that not relevant to the Milton hype train?

Cold water is uncomfortable, but it helps stimulate blood flow to the brain.
Why do your care about this? Going to a lot of trouble to highlight it.

Some people are getting a chubby over Milton's arm strength and athleticism, Maye is a similar athlete but was more impressive at a younger age in college.

Milton was a late round pick for a reason, doesn't mean he sucks, it just means he has a lot to work on and at 24 we'll see how much he's willing to learn. I'm pretty sure his college coaches tried to teach him, and he looked better than he ever had in his final season of college.

In short, if fans think Milton presumably being able to pass it five yards further than Maye is going to play into the competition... they're daft.

Maye has a cannon arm, and you almost never see 80-90 yard passes in football, decision making and accuracy will matter more between two similar prospects.

I don't think anyone is saying Milton is better than Maye or Milton should get a chance to start. If that happens then that means something went terribly wrong for the Patriots at the QB position.

Sounding like a broken record here, but here are W/L records and per game stats versus Top 25 teams over their last 2 years. Milton was more accurate against much better ranked teams (which included Georgia), and that was with mind numbing drops like the below. TBF my dream would be for Maye to be the successful long time starter and Milton to be the long time backup... after Zap wins the SB in '25. I like all of them and hope they all succeed.

Drake Maye (avg team rank 18)
1-3 56% 250yds 2.3TD 1INT

Joe Milton (avg team rank 8)
1-3 66.7% 234yds 1.5TD 0.25INT

Drake is 21, Milton is 24... at 21 years of age Milton was pinned to the bench. Maye also played on an abominable North Carolina team and carried them on his back like Atlas.

Look at Maye's numbers the year prior as a freshmen, he was much better than Milton throwing for 1500 more yards than Milton last year. Maye threw for almost a thousand more yards on a terrible roster this year and with his best WR missing most of the season.

Because that man would make 3 times as much money shooting into a basket.
Heard a stat on Dan Labatard show that 1 out of 6 men who are 7+ ft make it to NBA. I assume this is limited to US

Great, now all we need is a line that can block for 6+ seconds and a wide receiver that can get open deep and catch the ball. Jeez, just please complete the checkdown that Mac and Cam were unable to do.

Let’s start with getting lined up correctly, recognizing the blitzes and not jumping offsides… then we can worry about passing.

Watching Mac fail to recognize blitzers crowding the line pre-snap was a weekly nightmare. Being a league leader in presnap penalties made me nauseous.

Why are you being all defensive about Maye? Zero people are seriously saying Milton is better and should be the starter.

I like how the video has the title “unreal accuracy” like he meant to hit the crossbar on that exact location on a rainbow throw. lol

I’m being realistic about Milton, not defensive about Maye. Stop trying to ascribe emotion to my posts.

How do you know what he was aiming at?

Milton is a very raw rookie with real flaws in his game. There’s a reason why he didn’t go higher in the draft. Everyone knows that. Defensive or not seems pointless spending time pointing out what everyone already knows…

He wasn’t aiming at anything he was trying to throw it as far as he could.
