Maybe one of the most unclutch defenses of the BB era.

Defense kept making plays only for the OC to f it up with the ball back.

Godchaux sucks, Bentley sucks, OC sucks.

Reminds me of the Pat’s defenses of 2005 & 2006.

Bill is managing and coaching this defense (and offense) in a way that is incompatible with today's NFL. you cannot expect your defense to go out there every week and hold teams for 17 or 20 or 23 points. bend but don't break. does not work anymore with offenses being super aggressive and going for it on fourth, faking punts and featuring running quarterbacks. I hate to say it, and this will probably get me a ban, Bill Belichick game philosophies have been passed by by the modern NFL. If bills philosophy worked, his teams would not be 4-9 when it matters most in December and January over the last 3 years. And when you consider that, I think three of those wins are against the Jets, that's really bad. maybe Coach Bill formulates a great game plan on both sides of the ball with his superstar coordinators and they go out and win a playoff game next week. that would be very surprising given how they've played the last month. you never know

There's at least 3-4 games where the defense gave up a got to have it stop.

It's not just that this defense is the opposite of clutch. It cannot stop the run to save its life. Three years now this team has been completely incapable of shutting down the run.

Am I wrong here? Every time we’ve needed a stop late in the game to get the ball back, this defense chokes. Like clockwork. It’s pretty ridiculous and I’m not sure exactly why that is. We used to be really sound in these situations.
Maybe the offense should not get so far behind by turning the ball over.

Can't argue that. Needed clutch stops in the following games:
Miami
Saints
Bucs
Cowboys
Texans
@ Bills
Indy
Bills
@ Miami

They made the stops in 2 of those games , Texans and @ Buffalo . Thats 2 out of 9, pretty awful in the clutch
To be fair, they did get the stop vs Miami first time and Harris fumbled the game away

Hightower is a lot better than some here gave him credit for. With Hightower and Dugger out, it was very predictable that crappy Godchaux and crappy Bentley would put up their loser specials of giving up 1st downs and accumulating a lot of cheap tackle stats.

Godchaux and Bentley SUCK.

.

There is no excuse for this. Teams are continuing to run right at Judon for this very reason.

If DEs are going to charge up the field and leave lanes open, the defense needs ball chasers that can go sideline to sideline to sideline and we don't have 'em.
Mic drop. We have LBs that are more of a fit for the NFL in 2001 than the NFL in 2022, and that includes Collins. The pursuit speed going East to West is just bad. DTs are not holding their own at the point of attack either which is leaving the likes of Bentley to clean up the trash. You don’t want your Mike to have 100+ tackles. If that happens, then the DTs are getting blown off the ball.

We need to play a perfect game and hope for other team to make mistakes. That's the only way we can win. We had a run of 7 games with that consistency. Now 3 out of last 4 games that consistency has been lost.

Very difficult to win with this type of inconsistency. Even the Steelers have some consistency on their defense. Our run defense and 3rdvdiwn defense is so porous. Would be lucky if we can win 1 playoff game.

Too many holes in defense and offense cannot carry us due to having a rookie QB. Maybe Josh starts making aggressive play calling from the start . That's the only way we will have a chance else we will end up close but lose them .

If the defense gave up 30 PPG but consistently got us the ball back in a one possession game late in the 4th I'd take that a thousand times over whatever the hell we have now. Sometimes I watch the game and can't tell if it's the 2021 season or the 2011 season
