Dale and Holly reported that IndyStar reported that the Colts reported that Marvin has been cleared to play but it hasn't yet been decided if he will or not.

Marvin Harrison Update (Friday)

From RotoWire :

"Harrison (knee) missed Friday's practice, but has been cleared to play Sunday against New England. Still, the Colts are unsure if they want to risk further injury this week. "We really want him to be ready coming down the stretch. If the doctors say we really have a much better chance of him being healthy down the stretch by sitting out, then we'll sit him out," head coach Tony Dungy told the Indianapolis Star We'll all get together and make that decision."

Re: Marvin Harrison Update (Friday)

He's out. I can't see how he'd play.

Re: Marvin Harrison Update (Friday)

I'd be very surprised if he plays after missing practice today.

Re: Marvin Harrison Update (Friday)

This is the biggest game of the year, I know they would like to rest him up, but just his presence on the field makes you have to respect him. In my opinion, if he doesn’t play hes a ****.

Re: Marvin Harrison Update (Friday)

Bear in mind, even if they win this game, Indy has to travel to SD next week. So it's not like there aren't more tough games on their schedule.

I don't see them going "All In" and risking Harrison when there are plenty more games to play.

Re: Marvin Harrison Update (Friday)

Last season, Polian kept Sanders out until the Pats game, saving him up. Polian felt that was the key game of the season. IMO listing Harrison as "doubtful" was a charade, and Harrison will play this game.

Better to miss this game then the playoffs as far as they are concerned. Its a smart move if they make it.

*mind you, Harrison has never shown up for the playoffs yet, so it may not matter*

If Harrison is out, you can put Asante on Wayne and that really will impact the games entire dynamic.

I thought the rule was that if you don't practice all week. You can't play.

How did they get clearance? AM I wrong?

Re: Marvin Harrison Update (Friday)

It's sounding more and more to me like they've known all along that he wouldn't play but wanted to leave doubts in the Patriots' minds, ergo the disingenuous "team decision" designation for Thursday. We'll see....

Re: Marvin Harrison Update (Friday)

he is playing

If he only plays two games it will be the two Pats games.

Re: Marvin Harrison Update (Friday)

is this like the Mike Vick game and only just before game time was he listed out and Shaub played?

This almost has me leaning to him not playing. If they were taking a page out of BB's injury report book, like they did last season, there is no value to saying he is cleared unless you don't think he will. The Patriots are going to prepare for Harrison if there is the slightest chance he will play. So if the the whole "Marvin may not play" was just smoke, then why say he can?

Good. I don't want any excuses when we beat them.

Oh quit whining...it's just a little gamesmanship from a HC who is too pure to lie (but apparently competitive enough to not sink to being maddneingly disingenuous..).

It sounds more to me like they've known all along that he could play, albeit not at 100%. He'll therefore likely play and when he's ineffective in that timing offense in the first half they will sit Marvin the warrior who will rub his knee and nobody will say a word about Indy potentially risking the remainder of the season or a players $67M backloaded contract just to try to win a damn game because only evil coaches do that...but we will hear about how without Marvin at 100% the outcome of this matchup means nothing going forward.

Re: Marvin Harrison Update (Friday)

They are playing the same game with Harrison that we are with Watson.

Both will play.

Re: Marvin Harrison Update (Friday)

$67M backloaded contract

Which brings up the question...does Harrison ever see the $7.6 million salary due him next year? I wouldn't bet on it.

Cool. Saves me the time and trouble of watching Sunday!

As if.

Hopefully he plays. I don't want room for any excuses for the @$$whoopin'.

Don't think anyone answered you but yes you are wrong. There is no actual NFL rule on this, just some coaches have it as a rule. McNair a few years back with the Titans when he was really banged up had a string where he wouldn't practice at all but tough it out for games.
