Mariota more than likely to be released per source.

Idk. We were 7-9 last year with the opt outs, a QB who can't throw, no talent at receiver and a tough schedule.

I could see 10 wins with any competent QB, opt ins and improved receivers.
And do you honestly think Mariota is a competent QB that can lead us to 10 wins? Really?

Sure, but let's also remember that they were extremely lucky with several of their opponents. Miami started slow. The Jets were hot garbage and couldn't take games they should have won, and Murray was playing injured for the Cardinals game. Everyone can play the "what if" game for any team, and some may be tempted to try to counter this with a "But what if" in the other direction (thus missing the point), but the Patriots could have been a 3 win team, if the Jets weren't quite so Jetsy and New England had caught Miami and Arizona in slightly different circumstances.

That's how fragile this last year's team was.

Has Mariota ever won 10 games? The one game he played this past season, he didn't do too bad, passing for 1 TD/ 1 INT, running for another, w/ 88 rushing yards (60% completion).

Yet, in the 4th Qtr with game knotted up and a chance to win after Chargers miss a FG to take the lead, he throws a pick at the LAC 16 returned 51 yards to the LV 33 w/ 1:54 left. LAC miss the game winning FG again.

In OT, Mariota takes them to 1st and GOAL @ LAC 4, but fails to punch it through and settle for a FG. Herbert (the rookie) drives the field and personally scores the winning TD. Can we trade for Herbert instead? Kid's the real deal. Mariota not so much.

he's never won or lost a single game in the NFL

teams have won games with Mariota at QB........but Mariota has never won a single one

we can always go what if and look at breaks.......couple more breaks last year and the pats were 9-7 and knocking on the playoff door.....and agreed, a couple less breaks and they were 5-11......that goes for most teams most seasons, yes

who knows how things will shake out.......but with the opt outs potentially back (the ones that restructure and don't get cut lol), with a chance to rebuild much of the roster, yes i believe a QB like Mariota can help this team to a 9-11........but there's a lot of what ifs with the rest of the roster, too.........

OK then let me put it this way: During Mariota's last season in 2019, Titans started out 2-4.

The last time Mariota led the team was in game #6, where he had 0 TD / 2 INT, 39% completion, 9.5 Rating. Titans series went: PUNT, PUNT, PUNT, PUNT, PUNT, PUNT, INT to end the half. Mariota started the 2nd half going PUNT, INT that led to a Denver TD. Score was 13-0 by end of 3rd QTR when he got replaced by Tannehill.

Tannehill didn't do much better 0 TD / 1 INT, 81% completion, 78.1 Rating. After that game, the Titans with Tannehill as the starting QB proceeded to go 9-4 (incl. postseason) all the way to AFCCG.

So, the Titans "team" were a much better "team" with Tannehill than with Mariota.

Also, he's never played 16 games. I don't know where this love fest for Mariota is coming from, it's weird.

Mariota yuck. Why would anyone want him over Cam?

Not that Cam should be option #1. I'm hoping for Fitzmagic, only so he can complete his AFC east tour

See those? Those are called free agents. We have only 28 guys under contract for 2021. That means the 7-10 team is not coming back. We have a new team coming in and have no clue what potential it may or may not have.

Triumph, could be time for you to look for another team? What do you think?
Never

I follow some other teams closely and try to watch as many games as possible, but the Pats will always take precedent. For example, 1 season I studied the Browns and last season I focused on the Bears because my cigar buddy is from there.

The 1st amendment still exist for the time being and I'm exercising my right to tell the truth about the Pats. Ive never been a Homer like yourself and do not believe that I would like it. Still, tell the rest of the Homeboys that I wish them well for 2021 and that goes for you as well.

Umm he throws less balls into the dirt? I mean it couldn't be more than Cam anyway.
Can still had a 65.8% completion percentage last year. Plus he was throwing to the worse set of skill position in the league.

The same ****bag of players that made people think Brady hit the cliff in 2019.

I would like to see what Cam could do with a full off-season program with some capable weapons to throw to.

Unless they get Jimmy G or Matt Ryan, I want to see Cam back under center.

I really don't care what his completion % was. 2,657 yards, 8 TD, 10 INT, QBR of 47.0. That speaks enough. There is truth to a bad WR core, but it's not the only issue. His shoulder is shot. We cannot afford Jimmy G or Matt Ryan.

I understand the lukewarm or negative response to Mariota. Here's another pitch if he is signed:

Marcus Mariota is a freak of an athlete. You wouldn't know it the way the Titans used him. At 6'4" 220 Lbs. he ran a 4.52, a 6.87 3 cone & had a 36" broad jump. That'd make him one of the more athletic WRs in the league. The only QBs similar are Lamar Jackson & Kyler Murray.

On the Titans the most rushing attempts he had in a season was 64. In less than three quarters with the Raiders he had 9 attempts for 88 yards. Considering this part of his game was barely utilized most of his career you could do worse for a stopgap QB.

I think you’re getting a little too riled up over this. I’m not seeing it as a love fest for Mariota as I’m seeing it as a love fest for what many believe to be the shiniest turd of all the turds possibly available.

This can't be true, is it?

That's a great point. He's also one of just two QBs to throw a TD pass to himself.
