Manning on Brady's injury

The Jets don't get it, the Steelers don't get, neither do the Bills or Chargers.

The Colts and their fans get it.

In order to be the best, you must beat the best.

Wait isn't that Tomlinson? j/k

I think Indy fans have generally been a lot better about this than others, perhaps because they just went through a scare with Manning's knee and can appreciate how tenuous a great QB's reign is.

... and I think maybe a lot of us took the same view about Manning when there were rumors he might be out for awhile.

It's respect for the game of football to want to face someone's best players.

I am the biggest Manning hater around but he has been winning me over. Its hard to hate a guy who repeatedly shows a lot of class.

QB's tend to have a fraternity. The great ones tend to be emotionally bound to each other. Shared burden I guess. Favre's game and his behavior this offseason make me cringe. But when they interviewed him last Sunday and asked him to comment on Brady's injury he looked like he was half way between throwing up and breaking down.

I read somewhere in the last day or so that while Manning's never had a serious knee injury he has something of a phoebia about being hit on the plant leg and routinely wears a knee brace as a result.

I agree. Ive always disliked him, but I grew some new found respect for him with those comments.

Just remember that he's the thieving bastard who stole Frankenstein's forehead.

I don't remember when Manning never wore that brace actually.

I also heard he was taught at a young age to always keep your feet moving to avoid injury there. aka happy feet.

My only gripe with Manning hasn't even been with him, it's been with the media: I hated that he was considered the better QB year after year...stupid reason, but there it is. He's said some dumb things that make him sound like less of a team player than you'd want out of your franchise QB, but he's always seemed like a good guy.

And his commercials are friggin hilarious. That Williams sisters/Manning brothers one is awesome.

'MY brother and I would like to announce that it's on like Donkey Kong.'
'And stop COPYING us!'

Manning is like Favre - You hate the guy as a football player but you kind of like the guy as a person because I really think Manning is the type of guy that would be cool to hang out with once he took the Colts uniform off.

I heard that in more than one occasion Brady was invited and attended a gathering at the Mannings house and is just as buddy buddy with Archie and Eli as he is with Peyton.

If Tom thinks the family is O.K. then its fine with me,After all its the football Mannings we dislike not the people outside of it.

I was definitely on the train that wanted Peyton to be in top shape by week nine. Epic battle. Really gonna miss this year.

That said, if Cassel is playing well and whips his a$s, I will cheer louder than all y'all!!

In a rare moment of candor, I'd just like to say cheers to Peyton Manning, the Indianapolis Colts and their fans. This rivalry we have is one of the funnest and purest things about football and sports in general, and it's real, not the contrived garbage we get fed by the media in the absence of real sports drama. Colts fans have been classy throughout this, because they get it; in the NFL there are the Colts, the Pats and everyone else. It's just too bad for everyone else that they are really only casual bystanders. Now go **** yourselves, we're still gonna beat ya

Good point. For a long time the media was fixated on him.
At this time he has a injury of his own so he knows what he is talking about.

Pats vs Colts has been the highlight game of the season for me every year since the rivalry entered the realm it is now

I cringed when I saw Tom go down, I kept picturing Peyton going down like that, and I can only imagine the feeling watching as Brady was down on the field

I'd hate for IMO the greatest QB rivalry of all time to be cut down in it's prime, and no victory over the Pats will quite mean the same without Brady in the mix

I wish him a very quick and healthy recovery, and hope he comes back as strong as we has before

I am loving this thread.
We are fans of the greatest game in the world. Our rivals - Indy, San Diego, Pittsburgh, Denver, etc., are not a bunch of evil bastards. They are our competitors. The height of our teams accomplishments is only as great as the quality of the teams we have bested. I think most of the players, those who compete in the actual battles, understand that. Sadly, we fans often forget it.

yeah there are some really ******ed fans out there who forget these are guys working hard, and people giving their all

ya gotta just realize that , and feel bad when a big star goes down

i really could not understand the slightest ounce of brady hate this week, the guy has always been a good guy for the nfl and his team.

i mean i can understand the hating a player (not true hatred, but ya know that fan hatred) and team because they rip you apart , that's just "damn that sob for kicking our ass" type hate, but once a guy gets injured, man you just gotta do something alot of people seem incapable of doing these days, and ever...ya gotta put yourself in their shoes, their fans shoes...empathy, cause we've all had a great player suffer an injury

hell some of us have had some of our favorite players killed during their careers

you just gotta feel for people more.

You knew Manning would have something classy to say. I'm also glad to hear that Indy fans are being classy about this.

In fact, I have to say most are being more classy than I expected in general. I thought I'd be getting bashed more.

HILARIOUS....Manning is 1 funny dude. I wish someone would post the link of him in the lockerroom on SNL. Man that **** was funny...

Re: Manning, I had always liked Manning and I am sure since I joined the board I would be able to back that up with some of my posts.

Good on ya Manning, good health to ya and get back on that field and compete. I also believe that to be the best you have to beat the best.

That was actually pretty funny...
