Whether Mankins was going to push to continue the lawsuit or not, the plantiffs in the lawsuit have been overruled by the NFLPA exectives:

Personally, I think they were going to push this until they realized how bad of a PR hit (including within the ranks of the players) that they were going to get after spending months calling the owners greedy only to hold up a deal to fight for the selfish interests of 10 players. All the plantiffs are already running for cover claiming they never asked for special consideration although it seems pretty clear that several did.
Again, I didn't have a problem for the plantiffs to ask for special consideration (eventhough I didn't think they deserved it), but I am glad cooler head prevailed and someone had the right mind to realize that this path was a stupid path to go on.
Reggie White deserved his special consideration when he got it because the lawsuit went on four years in which the Eagle retained exclusive rights to him and the trial was concluded (at least everything but the damages part of the case and any appeal) in which the courts sided with the players. And let's not forget the most important thing, the lawsuit was truly to right an unfair labor practice of the NFL where there was real form of free agency and most players had to spend their careers with whatever team drafted them until they didn't want them anymore with no real leverage to maximize their contracts. Even when the NFL introduced plan B free agency in 1989, each team could keep exclusive rights to any 37 players on their roster so basically only the bench players had free agency.
In this case, the plantiffs' free agency status was never affected during a season, the lawsuit was only three months old, and the lawsuit was mostly a tool to gain leverage in a CBA.
