Breaking New England Patriots Team News
I think you’re making too much of that. Doubs is 31, and there is an easy out for the team after 2027 season when he will be 33. Boutte is 24 now, and the Patriots don’t have to give him a new contract until after this season. Doubs is the WR #2 of the present, Boutte is the #2 WR of the future. Team won’t be paying two #2 WRs as you fear for more than one season, which will be a reasonable price for sustained excellence now and across the transition.
Romeo Doubs just turned 26 a couple of months ago.

Doubs is 26 my man. His contract ends qhen his 30.

Best case scenario is he improves and we have 2 #1 WR while paying very little (consideing Eagles eating most of the Cap space from Brown)

If Boutte emerges as better than him, we could still sign him an extension.

Doubs is 26.
Ouch. You’re right, I’m wrong. Missed that AI Grok’s response to my query was talking about Dobbs not Doubs.

Still don’t think it’s a big deal as @BobDigital makes it, mostly because Boutte doesn’t get his new contract until next year.

I’m also not convinced that having a #1 WR with two #2 WRs is all that bad, compared to having a #1 WR, a #2 WR, and a #3 WR. The former seems a much better offense, if the budget can handle it.

He got hit by Bradyn Swinson, who I'm fine with cutting for general dumbassery.
Vrabel has had Swinson leading drills so far, recognizing him as a veteran leader. He plays a position that we are discussing as the most serious weakness of the team. And you’re quick to cut him without knowing any details of what happened.

SMH.

Once again I’m glad PatsFans posters aren’t running the team!

Doubs will be part of the long-term solution here. His contract will be a bargain by year 3.

Anyone also having problems playing the bluesky vids from yesterday and today (eg the Chris Price one above)...I press play and nothing happens
I had the same, yesterday. Gave up and haven’t tried since.

If he's a veteran leader, he should know what the red jersey means.

I do hope he shows the growth that seems still possible.

Having too many good WRs is a problem I can accept.

Don’t know if he was engaged, don’t know if Maye turned unexpectedly into his path while he was engaged…

We just don’t know what happened. But shoot from the hip. Don’t trust Vrabel to handle it well.

Like I said, I am once again glad PatsFans posters don’t make decisions for the team.

Most likely Boutte and Hollins will be gone after this year, both in the last year of their contracts. Will have to concentrate on that position in FA and the draft.

Doubs is a 31 year old rental for two seasons. Not a strategic long term factor.
Why do you keep saying this? He's 26!

I think it’s going to depend on how they play and how much it will cost to extend them. It might get to the point where the team just has no interest in keeping them at any price, which is what seems to have happened with Diggs, but I don’t see either of them being at that point yet. Hollins is closer just because of age, and it may be that he just retires when the Pats don’t want him, although that may still be a year or two away. Boutte is still young and growing so he may be worth keeping. We’ll just have to wait and see…

As far as concentrating on WRs in FA and the draft, we may have a solid WR corps that will be difficult for any new additions to crack in the next several years.

Great post. The posters are not really going after me, they are passionate for the Pats so they feel badly if there might be the possibility that the WR1 hope does work out. They are anxious. It is a normal emotion and reaction. I am not similarly anxious because I know that not every draft pick or trade will work out.

For exmple how successful will Campbell and Henderson be after Y3? There are discussion points pointing positively and negatively, but if anything not positive is mentioned, posters feel anxious. You see this in the "must be Felger" type of responses. Anything not positive, even facts that they feel are not positive, make them nervous. So they react instead of being thoughtful and considerate.
Posters are only going after you because you post the same stuff over and over again with no new data. Actually, you have almost no data, you are simply regurgitating the same biased information over and over. You are biased because you don't like the trade. Until you have new data, you are simply flooding the site with negativity. We all get you don't like the trade, fine, whining and crying about it over and over doesn't help anything and doesn't make your point correct, it just is tedious. If we get into preseason and he isn't doing well, you can come on back and say I told you so. For now, he is on the team, perhaps keep it zipped until something actually happens to either confirm or deny your hypothesis.

Fine, he can keep his job, but he has to write a 10-page paper on why hurting your team's QB is a bad idea (unless you play for the JEST).

Dude, it is an Internet message board. Use the block function if posts get you so upset. Ian added that function, it is really easy to use. Don't ask others to manage your blood pressure - manage it yourself.

So coaches can yell, "Hey Bale!" or "Bale, hey!"

Just out of hospital with 4 broken ribs so not up to usual effort. On IR for summah.

Get well, old friend. I've had a broken rib - just one, mind you - and it hurt like a mother****er!

I think the team has more faith in Landry than the posters on this board. I think they're giving him the Morgan-Moses-Training-Camp-Vacation for the summer and Hope him to contribute during the season.
