Malik Cunningham = QB1

If anything. If Zappe continues to look the way he did and Cunningham continues. Because of the new NFL rules with the QBs I can envision Cunningham being QB2 and Zappe #3. As fans we have to admit the guy brings an element of excitement to the position. He is going to make it hard for BB not to keep him on the 53. IMO
Cunningham made last night fun but can we come back to earth. Zappe is still miles ahead of Cunningham.

Cunningham is going to have to start doing the Brady-style QB slide or else he will get killed out there.....that being said he is cat quick with great running instincts and a decent arm. And yes, he would be electric with Marcus Jones (or Douglas) on the field with him. Just the possibility of the Wildcat would complicate defensive preparations by opposing teams...I just hope they do the Wildcat the first time against the Dolphins. Surprise...and payback

My thinking is this.. Cunningham will make it hard for BB not to keep him on the roster. Mac is the guy.. I personally feel Mac is going to have a great season and ultimately not take a home discount.. why should he when Daniel jones is making 40 million. With that being said.. if Cunningham continues to develop as A QB.. IMO down the line we could very have the next coming of Lamar...
There's probably a dozen QBs that came before and after Lamar Jackson who were supposed to be Lamar Jackson esque, or had big careers rushing and throwing the ball in college... but never became much. Terrelle Pryor comes to mind. Vince Young. Malcolm Perry. Obviously not exact clones but very good running QBs. And probably so many whose names I don't remember because they were 5th-7th round picks (or undrafted) that never did anything.

Kid was fun last night. I miss the Fun Patriot plays, we all Do. Patrick Mahomes esk? Should be a good week of dreaming, that's all. Kid has PO! POTENTIAL.

I haven't been this excited for a QB since Michael Bishop!
Yesterday in the pregame thread I actually predicted that Cunningham might give us some Michael Bishop deja vu, and here we have an overreaction thread...

I honestly thought he was a token camp scout QB. And I've never counted him as a legit WR for this year.
But, he didn't just run around, he stood tough in that useless pocket (or on un-planned bootlegs) and threw pretty well.
I wonder if the coaches are re-ordering their priorities today to try to give him a legit chance to test the rest of preseason.
I think that's exactly what they're doing.

If Mac struggles mightily week 1 I think those Cunningham Chants could ring deafening if the kid keeps making plays this preseason.

And he grew up a Patriots fan? Poor Mac.

I definitely agree with you.. we have to remember long before Jackson was
Randall Cunningham, then Vick, RG 3, so it isn't exactly like the the dynamic mobile QB's weren't never heard off. Randall Cunningham had a rocketlauncher for an arm as well. He was before his Time. The thing is he is worth keeping around on the roster. BB offered him the highest UDFA guaranteed money to keep him away from other teams.

I saw nothing In Zappe last night that showed he was miles ahead.. Cunningham is a raw talent, he has a nice arm, great instincts, athletic ability, speed, agility. Your right he made it fun to watch.

Wife threw in the towel against Bledsoe in the late 90s. In '99 or 2000 can't remember which I was outa work and would visit Smithfield. I was in Camp Bishop until camp 2001 when this fickle fan went for Team Brady. Bishop was fun to watch. The Statue drove me nuts.

I asked the same thing myself.. why are they trying to morph him into WR.. it's clear what his ability is. A poster said Zappe was miles ahead of him.. Zappe looked like it was his first NFL game last night.. I was not impressed. Cunningham made better decisions, he got outside the pocket when it collapsed.. Mobile QBs who can throw is what the league is turning into.. not saying a QB has to be Jackson but being able to have mobility will help any O line.

Play maker!
Only chance we have behind a **** offensive line.

Because we haven't watched Cunningham throw in the NFL... and 4 pass attempts is not a sample size.

Zappe was playing against their 1's and 2's. Cunningham was playing against a bunch of guys who will be working for UPS next year.

Yeah i agree.. we watched him last night.. he looked decent enough.. zappe has starting experience, he should have been able to fare much better given his experience against whoever was out thier example. Look at how Houstons back up did against our back ups.

Zappe’s issue has been, and will continue to be batted balls. He’s just too small.

I remember a few years ago a scrub QB with an 80 yard TD run at the end of the 1st preseason game, Danny something. What ever happened to him?
