Malik Cunningham = QB1

My thinking is this.. Cunningham will make it hard for BB not to keep him on the roster. Mac is the guy.. I personally feel Mac is going to have a great season and ultimately not take a home discount.. why should he when Daniel jones is making 40 million. With that being said.. if Cunningham continues to develop as A QB.. IMO down the line we could very have the next coming of Lamar...
Mac should 100% take the money if it's available. He's not the last guy that was here.

its funny, Felger and Murray called the Malik Cunningham hype train yesterday afternoon. Both stated Cunningham would get in the game and run around and make some plays vs guys who will be personal trainers in 2 months...it's Michael Bishop part deux!

Sure, but Jackson is electric in the NFL. So even though it might be miniscule. There's a tiny chance the Patriots are hoping they can turn him into a Jackson clone.
He’s not the same player as Jackson

And it is not true that “he broke all of Jackson’s records”

Michael Bishop had a howitzer for an arm. Love the call by Harlan

Good grief... one 4th quarter of the first preseason game and we found an UDFA QB1?

He has a long uphill climb to make this roster, he needs to keep stacking good plays together.

Nobody is making this roster based off one preseason game, he'll need to prove he can play special teams and WR.

Yep, Jackson is more dynamic and a better athlete, but I'm interested in seeing how Malik will fare against higher caliber defenders.

Malik at the very least seems to have an instinctual component that can't be taught. The caliber of the defenders that he faced should be factored into the is Malik a legit QB equation, but so should the fact that he has had only limited time practicing and preparing as a QB.

He has athletic skills. Everyone knew that. Everyone chose not to draft him in a league where Trey Lance was in a trade up for 3 #1s.
Last night didn’t show anything the evaluators of all 32 teams didn’t know.
There are thousands of players who have excellent skills that are a part of the required skills to be a superstar and never make it.

I could see him being active to run a wildcat package. That is interesting.
If you do that you probably need him to cover kicks or something too because I don’t see him ready to contribute at wr.

Am I the only one who thinks people are way overrating this guy's performance last night. People online are raving about a 20 yard incomplete rollout pass. Sure Nixon should have caught it, but was a little bit off. And I don't know if he would have gotten into the end zone on that rushing TD against the Texans' starters.

I don't want to go the other way and downplay his night. He did a good job with the time he was given. But I guess I wasn't wowed. And most of the competition he faced will not be in the league in two weeks.

If anything. If Zappe continues to look the way he did and Cunningham continues. Because of the new NFL rules with the QBs I can envision Cunningham being QB2 and Zappe #3. As fans we have to admit the guy brings an element of excitement to the position. He is going to make it hard for BB not to keep him on the 53. IMO

I believe it's just the excitement he gave to fans at the QB position. Having the emergence of Mobile QBs helps any O line. Even though it's against guys who likely will be at stop n shop in a month. He still has raw athletic ability. When you have the traits he has you can't coach that. It's just the excitement that he brought is why people are Hyped about him that's all.

He was playing against guys who won’t be nfl players.
No team is going to be effective running the offense he ran on that drive.
It was a nice gimmick. None of 32 teams wanted to take a chance on him in the 7th round as a QB. No one who evaluated him was surprised by what he did last night.
I didn’t see anything wrong with Zappe.

The only reason to activate him is if you want to run a wildcat package to throw off a defense.

Put Marcus Jones and Cunningham on the field together on offense. Run them screens and quick passes.

It was just one performance at the end of a preseason game, but he took advantage of his opportunity. To quote Barnum, "Always leave them wanting more'. At the very least he has a unique to the Patriots skillset that can prove to be valuable in games. I'm sticking with my initial, when he was first signed, prediction that he'll make the 53, beyond that who knows.

Thats not what my next Musketfire article says good sir. I hope you're ready to read solid gold!

QB tierlist Mahomes 1. Malik 2. ....... Josh allen 33.

You are as good as your last play they should just cut Tre Nixon loose right now we have all seen enough. Tre Nixon have Slater type hands @ WR. On Malik he's an athlete he played way better than McSorley who looks lost. I am sure OC BOB can use Malik somehow he's one worth watching.

I'm NOT going to downplay what Cunningham did last night. We have all seen our starting defense fail to guard exactly that on numerous occasions. He alone may be the biggest contribution to our defense this year. Guys like Tavai need this kind of practice the most.
