Um, Malcolm Butler was one of the involved parties. Anything he says is first hand testimony, not “hearsay”.We will never get a confirmation from the Patriots on why he was held out. So this book is essentially hearsay and nothing but a curiosity. Now if he reveals that he did something incredibly stupid and it was his fault....then I would be inclined to believe him.
You already got your answer. As the Super Bowl unfolded that night. Butler was there, he was healthy, he was dressed, and he played in the game. On ST. Belichick held him out of the game on defense as retribution for some offense (probably toward a coach).
So we know it didn't warrant the entire game because he actually played. Just not where and when he could have made a difference in the outcome of the game. I firmly believe Belichick put his personal agenda ahead of what was in the best interest of the team. In a Super Bowl. WTF!?!
What do you care? Thomas Edward Brady threw for nearly a thousand yards in that game. Then he singlehandedly lost it by allowing himself to get strip-sacked at the end.
The whole thing was insane. Butler didn't do anything bad enough that they told him to stay home because he dressed for the game but somehow he did something bad enough not to play a single defensive snap. To me that falls right into the window of something most of us would deem pretty trivial for a guy who everyone knew was out the door after that game anyways. The notion that Bill couldn't let whatever Butler did slide is asinine. You think the other 52 guys on the team if they look back on that Super Bowl and say "Well we ended up losing the game because we couldn't get a defensive stop all day but it was worth it because Bill taught a guy in his last game here a lesson!"? Other of Bill's recent blunders that somehow some people still defend.this. I can’t believe people are still defending Belichick/the team over this. everyone on this site knows, whether they want to admit it or not, Pats win if Butler plays. the team did too. look at Brady, Gronk, Amendola, etc reaction to it.
the missed tackles in the short passing game and run game. Butler makes at least one key tackle to stop a drive. and he may have gave up some catches, but there is no way on God’s green earth he gets shredded like Badmostly and Richards did
Those are good burgers.
Intrigued.Hopefully this debate will be finally put to rest once my side is proven right.
Thus begins the 2nd longest thread in Patsfans history. Lol
Those are good burgers.
Walter's second STFU Donny in the theater kills me
Have you seen the theory that Donny is a ghost? That is great.
Picking the best STFU Donny is akin to deciding which child you love more.....you can't.
Yea I didn't buy it.
This is interesting:
Definitely curious to potentially finally hear what happened, if he's actually willing to truly tell everybody what the full story is.
