hey Tony...**** all this booshyt...the real problem is...what about the polar bears??? This global warming is stressing them out and they're eating the CHILDREN!! at the border!!!the ones with the fake "parents"!..you know? and they're all screaming to hide in that waterlogged cave in Indonesia so the Navy Seals will rescue EVERYBODY ! and give them cake and ice cream...except the Russians are stealing all the world's ice cream!! and BB loves his cie cream but becuase the Russians stole it all he got distracted and sent Butler out for a few gallons of Rocky Roads(the pornstar) and now Brady is getting divorced! What about all THIS???

There were 10 other plays. You are placing the blame for an 85 yard drive on one missed tackle that for some reason you think isn’t a part of football.

Yeah, when that play would have forced a punt from the Eagles 22-yard line on the third play of the drive.

Give it up man, there’s no getting through. He can’t comprehend.

So allowing the first down is worse than allowing the TD?
Amazing that teams give up 20+ first downs a game but only less than 3 TDs on average.

No, forcing a punt is better than allowing a first down that continues a drive that results in a TD.

Of course it is but you can’t olave the entire blame on a TD drive on a guy missing a tackle at the -22 yard line.

This is crazy lol. I think I’d held firm that the first down allowed the drive to continue which resulted in 7 pts. Follow me here Andy...he makes the tackle....the drive ends.

A lot of things could happen to make the drive end. One of them isn’t responsibke for 7 points alone.

Yeah a lot of things, like making a tackle at their own 22 on 3rd down to force a punt. That could...and should have happened.

Right because nobody misses a tackle in the nfl.

Well he missed one, in a high leverage spot, which continued their drive, the drive which resulted in 7 pts, which is what I said all along, you ******** moron!

And 8 more plays followed. Blame those too.

But rather than have an adult cunversation all you are about is personal insults so I am find discussing your Ill advised viewpoints.

Would those 8 plays have happened if not for bademosi?

And yet Rowe, the guy who took Butler’s place, said in the immediate wake of the game that he had no idea that Butler wasn’t starting.

Eric Rowe clueless about Malcolm Butler not playing on defense

If Butler not playing was common knowledge, as McCourty made it out to be when the damage control machine went into full effect, shouldn’t the guy actually taking his place have known about it prior?

I didn't know this but I've read elsewhere that all the team captains knew he wasn't starting including McCourty. Not sure if it was damage control or not.

If it’s not to excuse mistakes, then what is that red herring for? Past accomplishments are wholly irrelevant to the topic at hand and each situation should be weighed on its own merits.

I disagree. If I don't know the real reason behind the benching then I think it's fair to use BB's past decisions or accomplishments to judge whether or not I'll trust him on this current one. It's not to excuse him for mistakes because I know he's not perfect but I'll take his process or coaching style or decision making over anyone else's in the NFL.

It would be nice if they forced the Eagles to adjust once on offense. Go watch the game again. I don’t think they deviated much at all from their initial game plan. Butler in moves Rowe back to the slot and increases the chances that the Pats make a stop on one of the third down conversions given up by him in the first two series. It also effectively moves McCourty back deep to where he could have been shaded to Butler’s side on longer routes and moved Chung out of the slot later in the game and back into the box. The run defense would have still been suspect, but you’re at least not dismantling the secondary along with it.

They did not deviate from thier 3-4 at all but they did switch coverages in the secondary. I truly think they wanted to force Foles to throw as much as possible and hoped to get enough pressure on him to make a mistake. It happened once. Other than that Foles played like an MVP.

There’s zero way Belichick thought that what he trotted out on defense was his best personnel considering how the Big Nickel regularly got teabagged during the regular season. He simply made a judgment call and relied on 12 to save his bacon, which he almost did. I don’t think he threw the game or sabotaged the team intentionally, but his decision definitely flushed the Super Bowl down the crapper. But then again, I thought you weren’t bringing up irrelevant past accomplishments to excuse the decision? Sure looks like you’re doing just that right here.

I could bring up the Panther game. Butler had 100% snaps in that game and Richards had 0%.. I won't say it was a KC type teabagging job but it was definitely a brew with a few scrotum hairs in it.

I’m not of the opinion that BB directly tried to tank the game. But he had to have known that he was putting lesser personnel on the field which constricted what he could do on that side of the ball. Effectively, he put another priority before what his ultimate goal should have been. He then stuck with it even after seeing his defense get tooled in the first half. It is what it is... a rare mistake by the GOAT. It just unfortunately came at the most inopportune time of the 2017 season.

I know you don't. I disagree with you but don't think your position is baseless but I prefer to trust that BB had what he thought was a valid reason to put the personnel he chose on the field because he felt it was the best way to win the game and yes part of that belief is based on his past accomplishments. I don't think he put "another" priority before what his ultimate goal should have been. I say that because I don't think Butler broke any rules or violated any pregame curfew or whatever. I truly believe he practiced like **** or not as good as Rowe.

So we subtract 6 points because Rowe broke up a pass on the end zune that caused a fg and batted away a 2 point conversion so your argument is 8 points vs you expect butler to be perfect?
??? Really??? Sitting Butler had a lot bigger effect on the game. With the Big Nickel we had everyone playing out of position. Take a look at this picture. Absolutely stunning how one of the best coaches of all time thought this was the best way to go

Now look at the result at Chung one on one with Agholor. Half of this board could have made this throw. Agholar had 5 yds of separation.

The decision to bench Butler was dumb. The decision to keep him benched is mind boggling. Gilmore on Jeffrey, Butler on Smith, Rowe on Agholor. We make that switch we get one stop to win the Super Bowl.

We make that switch and we give up 250 rushing yards.
Plays dont get stopped because you think they would.
We played a ton of big nickel all season long with Chung covering the slot a lot.

Also butler would have been on Agholor (nowhere near a certainty he does a good job on him even if he was prepared to play) and Rowe on smith.

Butler was our starting cornerback. For every play he gives up he could make a big play the next play. It was an asinine decision for which bill will have to live with it.

8 plays?? C'mon man. Anyone of those 8 plays could have been a stop as well. That's football.

And bademosis miss could’ve ended the drive. Which is what I was saying. His miss contributed to 7 pts instead of an eagles punt.
