So you believe butler did absolutely nothing that led to his benching? It was just a whim?

So you believe Butler did nothing?unfortunately when he said it he was going full ******.
I think I can speak for Literally everyone when i say, Any actual truth would be welcome.
Right now we have a "Rumor" from a "source" that butler got into a verbal argument with a staff member. Which based on seeing other patriot players having verbal arguments with coaches hasn't resulted in benchings.
We also have a couple of instances where BB has IMO unfairly punished butler for slight offenses(Missing a flight due to weather cancellation, Missing a flight due to the flu) Which some members of this forum mean that Butler should have been tarred and feathered, and would rather lose a superbowl then see someone who was sick not be punished severely.
My stance:
I wan't to know what happened that caused the most consistent experienced CB on the team to be active and yet to get zero snaps during a superbowl where the defense gave up the most points in patriots playoff history under BB. I'm not saying you can't punish a player, but I will say the punishment should fit the crime, and that anything short of physically striking a staff member or teammate shouldn't have resulted in throwing the superbowl.
I look forward to the truth you bring to this thread. please keep in mind, quoting SBB saying he has a source, is not in fact truth. It's rumor and conjecture, neither of which will solve the issue this thread was created to discuss.
The truth is that Butler was benched for a reason. He was benched by the same HC that was a huge part of this team making it to 12 AFCCGs (7 in a row) and winning 5 of 8 super bowls.
That's the truth.
Everything else is speculation or assumptions.
Great coach no doubt but anything less then an assault would not warrant the benching. The guy was a goner after the season. Bill’s an old school guy though so nothing would surprise me but even the greats can have a bad night.

That’s your own speculation and assumption. We’re all dealing in both but some are better evidenced than others.
He was benched by the same coach who once benched Wes Walker for the first quarter of a playoff game for saying an innocent foot fetish joke about the opposing coach. It was a misuse of authority which was a big factor in his team losing that game. The same guy who sat Richard Seymour for a half when he was late returning from his grandfather’s funeral. There’s a track record of Bill Belichick overreacting when his authority is pinched. Let’s not pretend there isn’t.
Unless Butler committed a crime (he clearly didn’t), there was no reason why he shouldn’t have be out there in the biggest game of the year.
I can understand it during the regular season, but on the Super Bowl is unacceptable.
You can’t honestly say with a straight face that Rowe was better than Malcolm Butler.
BB flat out sabatoged the game. He not only punished Butler, but took it out on the entire team. The fact that people can’t admit BB made a mistake is beyond idiotic.

I'm a big Belichick fan and I'm happy to call Belichick a liar. I think he lies plenty in public! Though I also think his lies are mostly lies of omission or picking words verrrry carefully so that they are technically true but lead one to draw the opposite conclusion from what's really going on. And every now and then there's an outright falsehood, too. This is why I love message board posting and just debating with other posters in general. You get to pigeonhole the Belichick fans in what must be an absolutely devastating moral quandary between defending Bill at all costs while simultaneously calling him a liar.
I would say his approach to leadership and authority has worked out pretty well since he came here. That’s your own speculation and assumption. We’re all dealing in both but some are better evidenced than others.

"[Welker playoff benching] was a misuse of authority which was a big factor in his team losing that game.
Apparently Belichick bet his half of Nantucket for the other half, on the eagles.
"Was a big factor" is total crap. Welker was benched for one series.
My point is that you cannot separate the Great Coach or Great GM from the decision. Whether you think he was right or wrong it's the way he has always coached and the way he has coached has led this team to an unmatched level of success.
His coaching style or system isn't for everyone and it doesn't work all the time but it has worked better than any other coaching style has in NFL history. It has given us older fans a lot to enjoy and probably has spoiled the **** out of the younger fans but I don't think anyone would trade it for any other team's success.
So you believe Butler did nothing?
