Malcolm Butler Mega Thread

Of course they did, because we had third stringers playing instead of starters, due to...

COACHES DECISIONS!

If you hold on of your best players off the field for an entire game, that is a COACHING decision that loses a game.
A coaching decision caused by the actions of Butler.

And round and round we go.

Pederson wouldn't have benched butler for the entire game, thus he outcoached BB.

Coaching lost the superbowl.

Since benching a player is not the same as murder I thought maybe we ccould apply the parts that fit my joke.
No, I think it’s interesting how much it does fit the situation… A powerful, really successful guy, who maybe has become drunk with power, surrounded by people who protect him even when he makes a terrible decision...

Or the dude that has been a HC and GM of a team that has been to 8 Super bowls just simply thought he was doing the right thing at the time.

5 Titles. Could've been 8 or 3 or 1 or 10 or whatever but it's 5 and it's been a historic twenty year streak.

The fourth Super bowl win was the one that finally got Brady over that ten year "hasn't won one since spygate" bull ****. That was awesome.

The fifth Super bowl win was the one that cemented Brady as the GOAT across most of the nation and shoved the whole deflategate crap right up Roger's ass capitalized with a massive booing. That and the 25 point comeback was too much to ask for. Couldn't have dreamed a better way to win.

This last loss sucks and I wonder what happened to Butler but I just look at it as you win some and you lose some. Every game has a questionable decision or call or play in it. It is what it is.

If the Seahawks had won no one would be talking about "why didn't he run the ball".

It's a new season and I wonder if they can get back to an 8th AFCCG in a row. WTF??

This is getting tiresome.

Good morning everyone!

I just watched the replay of the Super Bowl and noticed that Malcolm Butler wasn't playing in the game... What's up with that?

That’s the really successful part, and it definitely has been fun.

Silly stuff aside, this continues to be an issue because it wasn’t a single decision/call/play that was made in the heat of the moment. It was a decision made over and over and over again, particularly in the second half, when enough time had gone by with the Pats getting annihilated on defense for the decision to be changed. Every play, Belichick essentially made the decision again. Play after play.

At some point, halftime at the latest, Belichick could have looked at the players and coaches around him who had put everything on the line for months and months, gone up to Malcolm Butler and said, get your ass in there. Let’s win a Super Bowl. He didn’t. They didn’t.

You mention spygate/deflategate..I agree about the satisfaction there. And I think for Brady, the sting of that was STILL there. He wanted another. They all did.

So I think this thread goes on as long as there isn’t the closure of at least the fans here coming together and saying, we love Belichick, what a great ride this has been, but goddamn did he screw this one up.

Apparently Belichick bet his half of Nantucket for the other half, on the eagles.

BB knew that if they won, after the season they had and the way he treated his two biggest stars, that they were going to call it quits, and probably end up losing Edleman as well. So he intentionally held out Butler in order to make sure the defense couldn't DO THEIR JOB, then he spent the entire offseason trying to mend fences to get brady and gronk to stay.

It’s still hard to comprehend what happened. Also you wish they would have done something at least defensively and not be vanilla. Do some scheme blitzing. Our d line for the most part got manhandled. Gonna be tough to get back to the big game. History’s not on our side for sure.

They blitzed.

good news,

You don't have to even click on this thread. You know what it is.

Not responding to tyranny or social ignorance can never be the answer my friend, my brother.

When the German's bombed Pearl Harbor did we stay back and stand idle? No.

When the French invaded Northern Maine did we not push them back to Quebec? Oui. Albeit not before they shut down one of our greatest institutions in Van Buren. McDonalds.

So why should stand by and listen this nonsense?

I can't do it anymore. I stood shamefully silent for 5821 posts and decided now was the time to stand up and defend the truth.

Now is the time to light this thread on fire with some new venom. New hope. A new perspective.

It's on.

Wait! Let me get the...

Ok, carry on.

I think I can speak for Literally everyone when i say, Any actual truth would be welcome.

Right now we have a "Rumor" from a "source" that butler got into a verbal argument with a staff member. Which based on seeing other patriot players having verbal arguments with coaches hasn't resulted in benchings.

We also have a couple of instances where BB has IMO unfairly punished butler for slight offenses(Missing a flight due to weather cancellation, Missing a flight due to the flu) Which some members of this forum mean that Butler should have been tarred and feathered, and would rather lose a superbowl then see someone who was sick not be punished severely.

My stance:

I wan't to know what happened that caused the most consistent experienced CB on the team to be active and yet to get zero snaps during a superbowl where the defense gave up the most points in patriots playoff history under BB. I'm not saying you can't punish a player, but I will say the punishment should fit the crime, and that anything short of physically striking a staff member or teammate shouldn't have resulted in throwing the superbowl.

I look forward to the truth you bring to this thread. please keep in mind, quoting SBB saying he has a source, is not in fact truth. It's rumor and conjecture, neither of which will solve the issue this thread was created to discuss.

Fat chance! We likely will never get an answer.
