Mahomes will never be better than Brady

Did Mahomes **** the bed or was Mahomes running for his life? I can't remember how it played out, but how I remember it... it felt like Mahomes was a one man army on many plays and tried willing a team to victory. Plus, he did almost get a couple touchdowns that were dropped. If he gets one of those his stats might look better.
I re-watched the game a couple of times. The special throws Mahomes made that were dropped were into double and even triple coverage. Both of his picks were horrible decisions and throws and he could have had at least 2 more picks that were just out of the reach of Buc defenders after they were deflected. His worst drop was by Kelce after they stopped the Bucs on the goal line. Hit him right in the hands but funny how no one mentions it because it was just a normal drop back and throw by Mahomes that should have been caught but I guess no one cares because it wasn't highlight reel material.

Five blocking? I disagree. More like they had five bodies and two of them were blocking.

I agree that Reid is one of the best offensive minds but even he admitted that he should have run more. I thought they were going to do that when they broke a nice run in the first drive after the half. But they went back to their first half game plan. For whatever reason this was his biggest flop. Imo.

Yes Vea is a beast. I focused on him in his first game back against GB. I wondered if he could be effective coming back from an ankle injury. He was and he helped make GBs Oline look bottom tier a week after they looked great against the "number 1 " defense in the league.

I agree with you that those adjustments wouldn't have mattered because of the way Tampa's dominant defensive was and there are times when you know Brady isn't going to lose. If they needed more points he would've found a way to get them. That was vintage Tom F'ing Brady on display.

Mahomes had no time to read the defense post snap. I do agree that he's still young and hasn't mastered the pre snap reads but that defense made two HOF QBs look like Jags. Brees and Rodgers. That defense most likely solidified Brees' retirement decision and scratched Rodgers off of any future GOAT, BOAT lists.

I guess we disagree on the who is most responsible for the Chief's loss but agree on the why they would have lost anyway. Haha.

I hope this reply doesn't come across as snarky or anything because I do enjoy your posts.
The Rams did something similar in the SB in 2001. Marshall Faulk ran a few good runs in a row and then they got impatient and went pass happy.

I think the Pats in 2011 did the same thing when they abandoned the running game against a Giants team that was awful against the run.

We can now add KC to that list.

BTW Brady's next start will be his 300th in the regular season. That is just amazing all on it's own.

He also has 230 regular season wins and 34 in the playoffs. So 9 wins to 275 and 34 to 300. Does anyone put it past him to go three more years and he doesn't even have to have 12 wins which at .750 is below his .769 career regular season winning percentage. 250 regular season wins barring and injury seems like a given only needing 20. 40 post season victories may not be out of reach either.

Mark it down. Week 2 TB @ NE on Sunday Night Football. The only reason it might be later in the season is if we're still in lockdown.

They'll want fans in the building for that.

I'm hoping that my two sons and I will be able to get tickets for the TB game and go to a Pats game for the first time together. I've been able to take them separately but never together.

Relying on athleticism is a curse when it is brains that win. The Chiefs clearly should have done more delayed handoffs to RBs. And Mahomes could have audibled into more run plays. But he put the burden on his own shoulders and played right into the Bucs game plan. The kid still hasn’t figured it out methinks.

Great stats! He also has 83 TDs in the post-season. I am betting he can get to 100. He threw 10 this year.

Mahomes is a great QB. Talent wise, he’s up there with the all time most talented QBs. KC will be dangerous for many years, definitely the class of the AFC. He’s struggled in both SBs though, except for the last 10 minutes of SB 54.

I give the coaches a decent amount of blame for the loss in SB 55. They never adjusted. They saw what TB was doing defensively, and instead of trying to help the Oline by possibly bringing in eligible linemen as TE’s, and using plays that get rid of the ball fast, even call some screen passes, they did NONE of that. No adjustments. I don’t know if it was arrogance, or if they thought they’d magically come back like they always do. I’d give 50% blame to the coaches & 50% Mahomes.

Wilson didn’t **** the bed every super bowl he played
Either has Mahomes. That would’ve been Jimmy and the Niners last year failing to put the game away in the 4th.

Do you mean "Neither" has Mahomies? If you did, then you would be wrong.

Mahomes (with an big assist to Damien Williams) showed up at the end. I fail to see how this is sh*tting the bed, which is what Jimmy and the niners did in the 4th. An overall poor game from him yes but he made the plays at the end when he needed to.

We’ll see about the Chiefs being the class of the AFC for many years. Dan Marino and Aaron Rodgers come to mind for early career celebrations, since both guys were so dominant right away that they seemed to be on another level of greatness. In addition to the cap challenges, I think expectations and pressure are real factors too.

Pretty good post from that rabblerouser on Chiefsplanet. I guess he does blame Mahomes somewhat when he does not believe the game is rigged. Enjoy.

Mahomes played like ****, too.

For Mahomes, I mean.

Lots of times, Tampa Dlinemen cut in on the edge, leaving those little openings that Patrick usually slips through for yardage...he left those all game, didn't take them.

One of them, was I think a third down and we were heading to Tampa's end zone, third down. Shotgun. WR came in motion from the left and Kelce was iso'ed 1-on-1 to the left of and squared in and was WIDE ****ING OPEN. Tampa Dline crushed our oline and Mahomes sprinted right...there was a moment where Mahomes could've either taken it and ran or flipped it to a wide open Kelce...but he just threw it out of bounds.

Mahomes looked like ****. Not playing-wise...his EYES. His FACE.

He looked tired...beaten already...his body language...there was a shot of him standing on the sidelines with Reid, and he looked like...look, I know this isn't accurate, it's just a comparison - he looked like someone who had been up all night. Like worried. Or doing drugs. Or studying to beat a team. Or worrying about some guy named Donkey Kong Suh.

And for real, all the drops and balls hitting dudes in the face aside...there were some missed checkdowns, there was...

That's not the PMII I've watched for 3 years.

This is a really good post made by the guy. I still personally don't feel like Mahomes played like "****", but its fine that others seem to disagree. What I do agree with is he looked very defeated in the game. It was all in his body language. Mahomes was never beaten like this before. I think it will be a game that humbles him. At least, I hope. I still think today the loss to the NYG in the 16-0 season and the stretch of no superbowl years humbled Brady.

not that i disagree but this thread sounds a lot like what 49ers fans said of the brady/montana debate after super bowl 42 lol. a lot can happen

To be fair.

Montana had 4 rings. Brady already had 3 at the time.
Brady now has 7 and is 2-0 over Mahomes in postseason and Mahomes only has 1.

I agree a lot can happen, but ring wise/match-up wise, its a lot different. Montana has no wins over Brady. Brady will always be 3-2 over Mahomes (or at least for now).
