Mahomes will never be better than Brady

Mahomes is a fantastic player and he is more gifted than him in some areas, but this game in my opinion ended any SLIM possibility of Mahomes passing Brady as the GOAT. Brady is 3-2 versus Mahomes and 2-0 versus him in playoffs and owns a Super bowl win over the guy. You could argue Brady led teams are the reason Mahomes doesn't have three rings already.

Mahomes could still win 3-4 rings but this game should take away any hope of Mahomes passing Brady.

Tampa’s defense saved their best performance for the Super Bowl. They were unbelievable, they just wouldn’t stop. But man, Tom Brady was incredible, especially in the 1st half. It was just an out and out destruction of their opponent. So pleasant to not have heart palpitations during a Brady SB.

In an era of salary caps, it be hard for Mahomes to achieve that. He is not going to be in the discussion with Brady for a long time. But he is an amazing athlete and made KC relevant. That team is going to be a force to be reckon with in the AFC.

This is true. He won last year but it was actually one of his worse games as a pro imo. This game is tough to put on him even though that'll be the narrative. He was pressured more than half the time he dropped back. 6 drops. Defense didn't show up but Old Andy did.

Mahomes is an awesome QB and the Chiefs will always be in contention while he's there. Imagine if the QB wasn't mobile tonight? Chiefs have the nucleus to at least return next year, but that will eventually erode if the team doesn't draft well.

Yup. The issue Mahomes has now at this point is that he had this amazing hot start with an MVP and then a SB. But now let's say he does something that I doubt he will ever do and win 7. He now will have the "yeah.... but Brady eliminated you in the playoffs twice when you were around and he was the guy that you couldn't beat". Now that changes if a rematch with Brady happens next year. But even if Mahomes beat Brady in a SB next year, Brady's status is pretty safe.

Mahomes contract sprung a leak in the chiefs ship. They will be taking on water from here in out.... basically what happened to Russell Wilson, who will be battling to make it back for the rest of his career. Mahomes will, at best, win 3 total sbs.

It puts what Brady did with the pats in perspective... taking less $, playing with less on offense, and 20 years of sustained success. He had the option in free agency to find a loaded team with cap space and showed in the first year that he is historically better than Montana and Manning in similar circumstances.

Mahomes can run around and throw it really neat.... comparing him to Brady is silly. Wake me up when he wins 4.

Bucs D last play reminded me of the 2004 Divisional Playoff where Rodney Harrison intercepted Manning stopping Manning, and the best offense in the NFL, from having any TDs in the game. One way Mahomes can compare himself to Manning.

So much of Mahomes's game relies on running around and making incredible throws with his unreal arm. Will he be able to adapt once age diminishes his physical talent? I just don't see his play style standing the test of time like Tom's has.

Mahomes is basically a Rodgers with balls. He definitely didn't choke but was simply overwhelmed by a vaunting pass rush. The Tampa D was the true MVP of the game. Holding KC to just 9 points is unbelievable.

Not saying that TB didn't deserve the MVP because he played an excellent game as well.

Brady is truly the Dynasty slayer.

Perhaps the debate should not be Brady vs Mahomes.

We all know who wins that court case.


Instead it should probably be Mahomes vs Rodgers vs Roethlisberger, etc. for the runner up.

Then you can also add in Peyton, Elway, Montana, Marino and others in the race for number two.

And for historical purposes let us throw Unitas and Graham into the debate, though those two are impossible to compare today.
