Obviously, but it certainly sounds like we're headed toward people openly rooting for him to do poorly so that Zappe can assume the role. It's just a bizarre dynamic that - honestly - I didn't see coming, but I guess add that to the crazy list of things that have happened in here in the last 20+ years.

It's just strange because I'm happy Zappe did well, but I'm rooting for Mac when he steps back under center, primarily due to the fact we've got some time invested in the kid and he had shown us some things prior to the offensive change and the mess they were at the beginning of the year.
Although don't get me wrong, if Zappe gets back in, obviously, I'll be rooting for him as well. Neither is "my" QB, I'm rooting for the team to do well regardless of who is under center. That's the goal every week is to see whoever is in there play well. As long as we avoid what's going on in Pittsburgh, I'm good with that.

Again, just an odd dynamic. I would think being indifferent watching games would be sort of a non-fun way to do it, but I'm fully aware that I'm a weirdo, so, I guess, there you go.
Ian, Im a diehard fan of the Patriots TEAM. Not just 1 player.

I want the team to win with the best players that are available. I dont want to waste this years team or valuable time with BB as the Head Coach. I would argue that I am a bigger Patriots fan than those that insist on Mac Jones playing. This is no different than when Drew Bledsoe was replaced.

These are crazy times. Were supposed to be overjoyed about $5.00 gas and the person that caused it.

Lol, you keep hitting me with fun little nuggets. You couldn’t have left that last sentence out, or are you trying to liven things up and make my Friday night even more exciting when this thread heads down that road?

Jones is not my QB.

This is stupid even for you. It's a football team you ignoramus, not politics.

I have seen enough to realize his limitations.

You think. Your biggest problem is unwillingness to explore what you don't know or question what you believe you do.

Nobody is hoping that Jones fails. If he fails it will be because of his play.

Bah. You've had a hard-on for Jones ever since your hero Cam Newton got his walking papers.

You just can't help yourself. Unbelievable.

No need to go quite that far. I already gave him a hard time

He believes he's the forum ombudsman. Lol

He's a passionate guy who cares about the team and this board. There are worse things

Said this before, I haven't seen anyone openly hoping for Mac to fail. We all want the team to do better and pile up dubs.

This team was a poor looking team after 3 games. No one gave us a chance at GB, especially with Hoyer starting. Then all of a sudden, the 4th rnd rookie comes off the bench and next thing we know, it's OT & we're 5 yards away from a 1st down and possible FG for a huge upset win.

The kid got a little better the next game in a blow-out. Then, he gets markedly better the very next game in another blow-out on the road. Don't know if you know this but Zappe likes to say he's just trying to improve 1% every day. Well in a year that's a 365% improvement, lol. That's who this kid is. He did exactly that in college, dramatically improving from year to year. Going up against way better teams and losing close games in shoot outs.

The kid is exciting to watch. This is the most excited I've been about the Pats in 3 years. So what do we get? A bunch of nonsense (again), questioning our motives (not YOU) for being excited about the future prospect of this kid and the TEAM. I guess we didn't take the loyalty oath or something. We all want to win. Some of us have different opinions. That's healthy.

If Bill chooses Mac to start on MNF, then I hope he balls out and we bury the Bears. If he doesn't but win anyway, then we'll see what happens, but a win is a win.

I watched a bunch of film on him after they drafted him and in the back of my mind, I was like, this kid's good.

Here's what I wrote after he was drafted:

"The Western Kentucky standout had an unbelievable senior year, breaking Joe Burrow’s touchdown record of 60 by throwing 62 in 2021. Looking at the film, one of the things that stands out is the fact he shows a great touch on deep throws and an extremely quick release, as well as having a pretty strong arm.

He also has really good pocket awareness and throws well on the run, throwing an accurate ball outside the pocket on plays where he’s forced to move around and he keeps his eyes downfield. He’s also very accurate overall, finishing the season having completed 69.2% of his passes while also throwing for almost 6,000-yards.

As a result, he appears to be a player who could absolutely potentially step in if Jones was to get hurt and could even possibly be a player who could fetch them a pick in future years if Jones continues to improve and Zappe develops."

--
So as you can see, I was on board from the time they drafted him (I used accurate twice - obviously wrote that one late at night) and obviously, I'm glad they have him

I'm actually quite shocked people in Boston put up with Mac's personality. Out here in LA, they'd think it's cute, but I'm surprised he hasn't turned off people in Boston with his crying, dancing for no reason and dramatics getting carried

I believe that he has lost respect amongst the Pats players.

Do you have any evidence to support this?
These guys are tough SOBs and play through pain all the time.

Ive seen guys carted off on the back of the John Deere in tears because their season and possibly career is over. The way Jones left the Ravens game it looked like he broke his ankle half in two.

Seriously?!? Is this what we are doing now?
New England has been Felgerized. I warned people to exercise their free will and turn him off and put on something better, but, nope, this is where it has led us.

It's OK to be a fan of Zappe, but if Jones is the starter, the least everyone can do is obviously wish him well since all of us are hoping for good things from the team. If Jones falters and Zappe ends up earning the role, then obviously everyone should be rooting for him to do well also.

I'd prefer it if we could sort of get back to being on the same team, which would be all of us just rooting for this football team. Doesn't feel like a big ask, but given how this year has gone so far, it certainly feels like it.

I'm not saying if Mac throws multiple picks and we lose, it's not cool to criticize. But from a big-picture standpoint, I'd appreciate it if some people could get on board with this ... which is a strange thing to need to ask ...?
Somehow you've run this site for 20+ years and have not become completely jaded. It's amazing! But, sadly, you're swimming against the tide, and that tide is the one that flowed out of Boston Harbor before MWRA was a thing.

Gotcha so you don't

I said that " I believe"

Jones looked a soccer player.
Overall I’m 100% on Ian’s page here, plus I generally like Mac and think he’s the best option for the Pats right now.

But I have to admit his reaction to a sprained ankle was not great and a little embarrassing and I wish he had acted differently.

Im still a fan of the whole team. I am not over here with a Mac voodoo doll sticking pins in it and even if I did, I would have zero effect on what happens on the playing field.

It remains to be seen who the best QB for the Patriots is.
