Patriots Injury News Mack Hollins Nearing Return?

no reason not to that I can see... the window is 21 days, right? So it would go all the way to the Superbowl.
Umm.. If neither are healthy, then that's plenty of reason to not open the window.

I think he returns.

Vrabel has to remove someone for each guy added. Might not be an easy call.

Zo has some cred just being in the stadium and able to talk to players regularly, but he's also pretty dumb and says dumb **** regularly so everything he says is questionable from that pov
He's reported so much wrong ******** in the past few years, his credibility is completely shot.

Hollins may very well play, but Zolak's credibility is nil at this point.

Zo has no credibility but I don't think hes wrong.
I listened to most of the show today while plowing, and IIRC, what he said that he was moving well. He said there's a difference between moving well and being in NFL shape. I don't recall him saying "healthy".

First time I've listened to that in a couple years.

Right. We don't know if hes fully healed from whatever injury he sustained. Plus he's "only" been out for a few weeks so his conditioning can't be too far behind what is required to be effective but to your point it's still behind.

Thus far Vrabes has been uncommitted to activating him.

I sure hope he's back. I grimaced every time I noticed F-ton on offense yesterday.

Hollins was the third leading receiver on the team when he got injured (still 3rd in receptions, 4th in receiving yards by only 1 yard to Boutte). Besides his production, he’s a big time leader in the locker room, and a great blocker on run plays. He’s like a small TE. Gives Maye a reliable big receiver. Would LOVE to have him back (100% healthy) for the AFCCG

The thing is, you actually need weeks to acclimate to altitude.

Going early, going late, really doesn't matter a whole hell of a lot either way.
It's just anecdotal, but I spent a summer traveling from Denver (1 mile high) to Breckenridge (2 miles) to sing every week. 2-3 days in Denver, 4-5 days in Breck. By the 3rd or 4th day, things were a lot easier. It may take weeks to fully acclimate, but in my experience, every day helps.

Fair enough

Shows how much he means to that room. Thats a very telling story.
Yep. Even if he is not totally 100%, having him out there on the field and on the sideline means a lot to the other players. He is very clearly a central figure in the locker room who brings the energy.

His blocking is also pretty big for the team. While some of the other WRs have certainly stepped up their game in the blocking department (including Kyle Williams of all people, didn't see that coming), few can match Hollins in that department.

I'm going to guess he has his practice window opened and ends up being activated, but only plays sparingly, yet is very active on the sidelines when not playing and hyping up the guys.

Hollins would be a HUGE addition for the rest of the season... not just because he's a tall WR for goal line situations, but he's also a very under-rated blocker. I've always viewed him as an extra TE - and a good blocking TE - more than a typical WR.

But that non-block by Henderson that resulted in one of Maye's sacks last night is a good reminder of the role Hollins plays, and his blocking alone can give Maye the extra second that he needed to make the throw on a few occasions that he didn't have yesterday.

It doesn't get the attention it should - his help to the OL in blocking situations can buy Maye the extra second of time he needs that makes the difference between a completed pass or a strip sack against a good D.

He’s a better blocker than their TEs.

I wasn't a total fan of the shoeless wonder when they signed him. I was proven wrong, Hollins is a major part of this team and he is great in the running game. Plays hard, doesn't ***** and loves playing here.

Thats a win win. Now could you upgrade that position in the offseason? Maybe. I think with a better line and keeping Maye protected better will do wonders for this offense.
Agreed and what makes that even better is the offense is already pretty ****ing good.
