I wish there were some way to get the new GM in place NOW to aid in making such decisions. Really, the work of whoever will be the GM next year does begin NOW. Just based on the record, I'd rather have the new GM handle all that, starting now. If we have, as I hope we have, decided that Bill is out as GM, then I wish we would ACT on that now. If Bill is out, in other words, it makes no sense for a new GM not to have very strong input into the many roster decisions we will be making very, very soon. Bill will object, I suppose. He might even bow out of both the HC and the GM jobs this season. Frankly, I could live with that. Once again, this year's record is pretty much meaningless, except insofar as it affects draft position, making losses effectively wins. I do not support tanking, but neither do I feel in the least guilty about welcoming a high draft pick..
