Mac Not Happy With the Groceries

I wish there were some way to get the new GM in place NOW to aid in making such decisions. Really, the work of whoever will be the GM next year does begin NOW. Just based on the record, I'd rather have the new GM handle all that, starting now. If we have, as I hope we have, decided that Bill is out as GM, then I wish we would ACT on that now. If Bill is out, in other words, it makes no sense for a new GM not to have very strong input into the many roster decisions we will be making very, very soon. Bill will object, I suppose. He might even bow out of both the HC and the GM jobs this season. Frankly, I could live with that. Once again, this year's record is pretty much meaningless, except insofar as it affects draft position, making losses effectively wins. I do not support tanking, but neither do I feel in the least guilty about welcoming a high draft pick..
What makes me a little nervous is Bill trades away an asset for a guy who might bump us from a 4 win team to a 6 win team or something like that. At 1-4 this team is going nowhere and I would rather have a GM trading away veteran players for picks.

My theory is that this season all the decisions were not his. Krafts bought in the new OC, made it a priority to get back mayo and sign klemm
ITs quite possible BB wanted to cut mac jones after his rumored stunt of asking help outside the organization but kraft came out openly in support of mac jones.
It feels there is more to it than we know especally when we played better with matty P as the coordinator with almost the same players.

Yep, exactly. I have ethical issues with tanking per se, but I see no point in worsening our draft position by an act that will really accomplish nothing re "making the season a success," such as taking on some marginal castoff who will not likely have much of a role if any in the team as it rebuilds going forward. I feel the same way about bringing in a "veteran qb." Let's practice a little due diligence and finish the thus-far-botched job of evaluating Mac instead. As for trades, Bill's record of late there isn't encouraging, for sure. Maybe a trade or two for draft picks would be OK, but I do hope Bill will not be the one making the picks next time 'round.

That doesn't mean that the next-best PK automatically becomes worthy of a 4th-round-pick.
Agreed, but there was another kicker-hungry team coming up. I think Bill thought there was a good chance he was going to miss out on both top kicking prospects. I’m not saying he was right to do it, I’m just saying there was a reason it happened the way it did.

I thought DK Metcalf was the guy that had the question marks, he was the guy i wanted to stay away from but I was all in on AJ Brown

His scouting reports all emphasized how he was the most polished route runner in the entire draft, to go along with his big frame and great hands.. really not sure how he fell (which the red flags thing would make sense, i just dont recall from memory but my memory sucks these days!)

You're right, it was Metcalf, not AJ Brown, with the ? marks.

These are two games where he completely imploded. This is a case of him being broken. This like the first three weeks where he played reasonably well and made mistakes in part because he was under pressure.

This is like Tony Eason. Despite general perceptions, Eason was decent early in his career. But is o-line started to get him killed and he started to see ghosts and fell apart.

Whatever the reasons for it, Mac’s confidence is gone and he looks like Eason did when he started to see ghosts.

If Mac somehow pulls out of this and plays well, I could change my mind. I just think he may be too lost at this point.
Hey, at least Eason helped take us to our first SB XX, granted he he stunk it up when he got there but tell me Mac is better after he starts in a Super Bowl. Mac's headed to the toilet bowl.

This is wishful thinking and being way too kind to Belichick. BOB was such a predictable OC hire that pretty much everyone expected it before the halfway mark of the season. Bill would have been dumb to have to replace Mayo. Like seriously dumb. Especially since then he'd probably have to be forced to answer questions for why he made a dumb hire in Patricia one year and the likely elevated his own son to DC.

If he cut Mac for that while he was on a rookie contract and was a top 15 draft pick two years ago, he would have been completely savaged. No team does that. No coach would look good cutting a first round draft pick QB because he got his feelings hurt. Assuming you are right on this one, Kraft saved Bill from himself.

The sad part is the Raiders are so pathetic, Mac starting would probably be enough to beat them. Then we'd hear a bunch of redemption nonsense for the next week... before watching him turn it over three times and getting annihilated by the Bills.

If Mac starts, I'll be outside Gillette with pitchforks and torches, I'll let you all know when to show up... bring some tar and feathers for Bill.
Yeah.. those raiders WRs get open and make plays.. there was one guy in particular #16 what was his name again?. He played with brady didn't he? He was here last season and made plays.. geesh I can't seem to remember LOL.. we have no CBs right now that can contain Meyers or The real DeVante. JC Jackson looks done, Wade sucks, myles Bryant sucks.. part of me just wishes we woke up and it was week 18 already.. to take us out this misery of a season.

It's not QB purgatory until it's been proven Zappe and Grier suck... then it's purgatory.
We know zappe sucks.. I'd rather see Grier personally. I'm over this season already. I could bare this team if they showed heart and were exciting to watch but just lost games. To watch it all go down like this is disheartening.

Supposedly tried to trade him in the offseason, I'll see if I can find the article.

He shopped him and there were no buyers (allegedly).

The numbers from that guy at least show that Mac does his absolute best to avoid the rush etc.

Agreed 100% the decision last season has a lasting effect on Mac. Especially a 2nd year QB. I believe Mac doesn't believe in what he seeing and doesn't trust that guys can get open and make plays for him. Therefore he's making bad decisions and turnovers left n right. However BB has power to put this roster together. So just as he gets credit for gonzo he gets criticism for the offensive skill position players he's failed to properly surround Mac with. I just sense another type of loss like the last 2.. I think.. I'm just thinking there could possibly be an in-season change

Meyers had 200 yards receiving entering last week, blaming the loss of a slow but steady slot receiver for Mac’s disastrous play is the height of ridiculousness… we have plenty of those.

And Brady had Jakobi Meyers benched in 2019, which I said was dumb at the time, and I was scolded by the Foxboro faithful here that Meyers was an UDFA bum. Now all of a sudden he’s Jerry Rice.

Mac has stunk to high heavens, until the coaching staff, fanbase and media can admit the biggest problem… they can’t hope to improve.
