Mac Jones Through 2 Games (2021 vs 2022 vs 2023) By QTR and Redzone Totals

Fact is, you can throw any QB on this roster and they still would be losing. they aren't losing because of Mac. when you cant run the ball, cant use play action, cant block and your top receivers are parker/juju/bourne theres not much you can do. mac had more running yards per play than our backs at one point.

we laugh at other teams for ruining young QB's. and yet with the patriots no criticism can be given to bill its that your 3rd year guy still developing in the league must somehow lift everyone else up or he sucks. if the jets did this we would laugh at them. but Bill is "smarter"

eagles, dolphins, bills etc. didn't tell their young QB'S to go make everyone better and give them average receivers/OL. They went out and got guys on offense who could make the QB's life easier. and so far it has been. all 3 QB's showed improvement when their offensive talent was upgraded.

i've asked it in every "hate on mac jones" thread. name me a QB who we can plug in who will win games if this roster is good enough. and so far everyone ignores it because they know the truth. I don't see anyone saying stevenson sucks even though he's playing like garbage now. because deep down inside everyone knows the real issue

Is there really an "extreme" pro-Mac point of view? I don't see anyone here or on twitter saying Mac Jones is amazing and is bound for the HOF. I think even the most "pro Mac" viewpoint understands his limitations and want to see the season play out and then hopefully the team can assess whether he might be the guy or if they should look elsewhere.

The anti Mac viewpoint that I've seen seems to be one of these three viewpoints.
A) He's not a guy you can win with in today's NFL.
B) He's not Brady.
C) I'm mad and triggered because I just know Bailey Zappe is awesome why don't the Patriots realize that!?!?

Please add these to your list:

D) He's fugly and has a big head.
E) He's a cry baby.

Thank you.

Feels to me like the end of the road for BB in NE is closer than it’s ever been since game 2 of the 2001 season. But that’s a different topic.

It’s the NFL. If you’re not winning because of your QB, you’re losing because of your QB.

That is a trope that is easily disproven.

Kirk Cousins is second in the league in yards, first in TDs, second in QB rating, third in completion percentage, and third in yards per pass, has only thrown one INT, and the Vikes are 0-2.

The Chargers are 0-2.

Russel Wilson/Broncos 0-2
Justin Hebert/Chargers 0-2
Kirk Cousins/Vikings 0-2
Kyler Murray/Cardinals 0-2
Joe Burrow/Bengals 0-2

I didn't count Burrow because he has been injured and not playing well. Murray is on IR. He's not playing. And I think Wilson sucks now.

But both Herbert and Cousins have been playing really well. Herbert has a crap defense. Cousins has a crap defense and absolutely no running game.

At least he's not this guy.

For better or worse, Mac Jones is clearly the second best QB to come out of the 2021 draft. A draft that some predicted would rival the 1983 QB draft produced one or two good QBs. And so far, no elite ones.

Meh start to the season for Trevor Lawrence too. This was also supposed to be his breakout year...

The Patriots were never in contention to pick Lawrence. I guess they could have paid a draft premium to move up for Fields but there is no way the fans would have tolerated what Fields has given the Bears so far if that was here. MILFson ranked below Mills? Yikes

Aw man now I wish crawhammer was still here.
Was he actually banned?
Edit: his profile is gone so I guess he was. Thought he was just on timeout or something.

The most important piece on the chessboard.

Burrow, Herbert and Cousins should be able to turn it around because they are better than that.

This is the truth. None can answer and they acn come up with something like Caleb Williams when he hasn't yet suited up for a single game in NFL.

For context draft 1 pick Bryce Jones has the worst passer rating so far. So nothing from draft is set in stone . Trevor Lawrence yet to light it up. Mahomes was the only one who showed immediate promise. It took Josh Allen 4 seasons to show his potential and Mac is just in his 3rd year with 1 year wasted by having a DC double up as OC and OT and an ST coach doubling as QB coach .

And in 3rd year 0 reinforcements in offense and allowing your biggest safety valve in Meyers leave for a not so big contract and getting JuJu who is significantly inferior so far

Now yeah blame the QB who is behind the 2nd worst pass offensive line and still had the team in the game till the last minute to be robbed of the win by plays outside his control.

I just wonder if people are really arguing or trolling in name of fans...

He had a pretty good game against the Colts. Absolutely sucked against the Chiefs.

This type of reasoning is living scared.

You might/probably get someone worse, so keep what you have. The end game is to win by having consistent, competent QB performance. Basically, the QB should do his job.

The Pats need to draft QBs until they hit on a guy.
Yes, I obviously agree. You're stuck keeping your best current option, and, as they've done for decades, they'll keep drafting guys until someone else better emerges.
I am not expecting another great QB. A decent QB will do.
Decent is subjective. They have decent. Decent won ten games with some talent and a reasonably good system in place. The question now is whether or not he can reach really good or better to get them back there (because the competition this season exceeds decent being enough).

I get your comments regarding the line of thinking, but what I think or any of us think doesn't matter. The bar was set ridiculously high before because the last guy had the ability to potentially finish the job with the right pieces in place, even if those pieces weren't great. We can demand better, but at the end of the day, this is just the reality other teams end up with after losing a Hall of Fame quarterback.

It's not often you end up with someone else competent waiting in the wings, it's obviously rare. They were close on that (Garoppolo) but the timing didn't work out because Brady still had championship years left in him.

Barring that anomaly, most young QBs can't be successful without talented guys around them to help lift them up. That's just how it is. I mean, even an average veteran - Kirk Cousins in Minnesota - isn't close to as successful as he is without Jefferson and Thelien, and he's the one people keep comparing Mac to. I think Mac is better than Cousins and it makes me wonder what he'd be with someone like Jefferson. I just don't get it.

That being said, I'm starting to have some doubts, given what we've seen the first two weeks, whether or not they've got enough to weather what is going to be a tough year. We'll see, but I'm certainly a little concerned.

Kirk Cousins was considered an average QB at best until his fifth or six year in the league and even after he had his first Pro Bowl season, the Redskins let him walk. But you now think he can overcome a horrible defense and no RBs.
