Mac's gameday composure has become a problem too. I'm pretty sure by this point he's entering the games with a negative mindset because he's losing his composure very early on in these games now.

basically he cant work with patricia. he maybe right but its not his call. he needs to try to make it work. not try half ass and yell at he sideline. John McEnroe is the best nicknsme for him given by alabama coaches.

Supposedly, most of the players are on Jones' side on this. You haven't heard about the Gang of Five in the Patriots' locker room which includes both Jones and Meyers. Some players may have lost confidence in Jones, but Meyers is certainly not one of them.

And as for Trent Brown, he is probably trying to point fingers away from his own horrendous play this year. Trent Brown should be less concerned who is playing QB for the Patriots in 2023 and more concerned about who will be playing tackle. Actually, he should be more concerned about what teams might take him when he is cut in the offseason.

I think the laterals were more of a lack of confidence in the coaching, not Jones or any other player.

Pats right now have dont have a single difference maker who can take over the game. Uche is close but oddly he was out on the TD play vs the raiders. There isnt one player who can grab the game by the scruff of the neck and not let them lose.

That lack of trust I think was more to do by the results they had day after day and what was going on, probably due to the lack of credentials and pilosophical differences. Don’t forget the outburst in Vegas in the preseason where he tore off the playlist wristband and threw it. That ended up being a sign of things to come.

But you’re right, can’t hate everyone. So something would obviously have to give and it would definitely be an issue.

LOL! He was asked if he would be the OC. That doesn't mean he actually is looking for the job. This is weak even for you.

If someone asked me if I would walk around Time Square naked for a million dollars, I would say yes. That doesn't mean I am actively calling rich people to see if they would give me a million dollars to walk around Time Square naked.

Orlovsky knows if Patricia is fired or reassigned and Belichick wants to hire an OC to coach the Patriots with or without Jones that Belichick likely isn't calling him. The guy has never coached at any level. Get real.

I have been a mac jones supporter all season. i think BB messed up by the OC situaiton and also by playing him the chicago game. Things went south after that. But you cant just blame everyone else publicly and cry boo hoo that he has been wronged. Imagine if brady did all these yrs especually when he was young. You gotta fight , bring leadership to the team and have everyone fall in line and refuse to lose. Blowing a gasket just enables other players to do what they want like the raiders game.

I love how people are ignoring that what Patricia was doing on offense was exactly what Mac wanted. There were multiple quotes of Mac saying the new offense was a collaboration between him and the coaches. The coaches were listening to him. Patricia started the year with more shotgun, rpos & vertical plays. These are all the things Mac wanted because he used those in college. He didn't want to dink & dunk, PA down the field. They got him the deep 50/50 ball guy, the fastest WR in the draft.

RESULTS: after 3 games Mac had 2 TDs, 5 INTs, a 76 rating w/ a 1-2 record (thank you Gunner).

After Mac comes back from his injury, Bill shuts him down. More dinking and dunking to avoid costly TOs. Mac hates this. He wants to fling the rock downfield.

If we bring a new OC that gives Mac what he wants, we'll see the same results. If we bring a new OC that goes back to the traditional run 1st & take what the defense gives you game, he'll be more productive but he'll hate that OC as well.

It is very convenient to ignore how much the offensive style changed pre- and post-injury. Mac was muzzled. Shut down. Put back on training wheels. He hates it. Unfortunately for him, the coaches don't believe he has the game for the vertical plan.

What happened?

It isn't the ideal situation, but not the disaster that I think many make it out to be. I bet any good defensive coordinator with a decent amount of experience can call an offense and visa versa. Maybe not as well as a seasoned offensive coordinator, but a solid experienced defensive coordinators have been studying offenses for decades.

Lastly, he was a head coach. Sure he was a bad head coach. But that doesn't change the fact he was active in the game planning and play calling of the offense during his time in Detriot.

Would I rather have Bill O'Brien or even possibly Adam Gase calling the plays? Sure, definitely in O'Brien's case and probably in Gase's. But unfortunately that ain't happening. I just don't think the offense was be nearly as negatively affected as some with Patricia making the calls. In fact, he may be a far better option than a young offensive assistant with only several years of coaching experience.

When you talk about Patricia being clueless on how to run an offense or how offensive play calling works. The guy has two decades plus of experience as a coach and was a head coach. I find him as a more qualified option than a guy like McDaniels was in 2005 with only two years of offensive coaching experience and only three or four more years of coaching experience at all. And again, I don't mean he is better. Just more qualified.

I think you are overstating the learning curve for someone with as much experience as Patricia. But he has studied thousands of hours of offensive game film watching what offensive plays work or don't work in hundreds and thousands of situations. He may be expert on offensive play calling.

So we have evidence that being a DC with the Pats makes you an expert in at least certain offensive play calling by the Patriots.

I don't get the DeGuglielmo argument here. So people are going to argue that because after 22 years as the Patriots head coach with probably several hundred assistants and coordinators who have been on his staff over the years and during that time he has only one major blunder in his staff selections with an offensive line coach. And this is the argument that Belichick can't be trusted with his staffing selections?
