Unless you think Houston willl get the top seed,it looks like the West Coast (Denver is close enough) may have the answer to the top AFC seed come playoff time

Pittsburgh looks to have the hardest road trip facing one of the best defenses and running games in the league in the 49ers....Ben is hurting but will play and Harrison will be out with the suspension so Gore may run wild.

Baltimore is facing a team in SD with its back against the wall...SD is arguably the most talented team in the AFC with a losing record and could be a challenge to a good Raven's secondary but not its the strength of thier defense and thats where Vincent Jackson could have a big game.

The Pats look to have the easiest challenge out west as they face a good but not great Broncos defense and the 'mystique' of the "Mile High Messiah" to face but this simply is a game that the Patriots SHOULD win if they can put 28 or more on the board and they should as Gronkowski and Hernandez are mismatches to their secondary (on paper at least)....even our putrid defense is unlikely to allow 30 points to the Broncos.

Houston is at home against Carolina and SHOULD have a cakewalk against the Panthers, but you have T.J. Yates who is still green around the edges and could have a 4 INT game at any point from here on out.

This IS the Pats BEST chance to obtain the #1 seed or at least be tied for the spot with Houston.....
IMO Baltimore or Pittsburgh WILL lose ...Maybe both this weekend,But I see at least ONE of them losing....and hope we don't.

After this weekend it gets easier for all these teams....We may see a seperation from the #1 seed contender and pretender come the end of this weekend.

If Rivers plays like he did last week, Baltimore may see a real challenge.

I also think that SF gets lucky in a few ways, Pitt is down a Center (assuming Pouncey isn't ready), which affects their entire line as they shift players instead of replacing just the Center. SF has a mean pass rush. Ben is hurt, and one of their defensive leaders is suspended. SF isn't exactly a bad team, either.

Carolina might surprise, they nearly knocked off ATL last week, they're a strange team. Also don't trust Yates just yet.

Another positive thing might be the Jests playoff chances taking a hit, the Eagles sometimes decide to actually play football, lets hope this is one of those weeks.

This whole weekend will be very interesting for the AFC playoff picture, not just the 1 seed.

SD is bad Team...that cannot beat good Teams and Batimore or Joe Stinko could lay a goose egg against them. Pick your poision i guess..i don't want Pittsburgh to be the # 1 seed our High School Secondary wouldn't match up well against their receivers.:scared:

We don't want the #1 seed. In all likelihood it would mean having to play the 5th seed in the divisional round; which would be PIT or Balt -- b/c you just know they'll knock off the #4 seed in the wild card round.

So. #1 seed give us the AFCCG at home. There is no plan that works out better than that.

So if the Pats do get the #1 seed, who says they will beat the winner of the Jets,Bengals,Texans/Raiders,Broncos WC winner to get to the AFCCG?

Hate to tell you but getting past the first game has been a failure for this team the past couple years....at home,Nonetheless

well if you do espn's playoff machine.. if we all win out... we get no worse than the 2 seed... if we want the number 1 seed,we need a ravens and steelers loss.... but if we all win out we do no worse then a 2 ... so we basically control our destiny for a bye.. which is why this week is huge for playoff position...

No kidding. Every year is different but the outcome of these past two home playoff games can't get much worse. Losing in a blowout and as a heavy favorite losing to your most hated rival???/ Sheesh.

I just saw on twitter where Pouncey and Ben have been diagnosed with the MILDEST form of ankle sprain. LOL at the drama queen. Although if the SF D manages to get the better of him early on Sunday I guarantee you that ankle is going to get a lot worse in a hurry.

We don't? I don't know about you but this D won't be able to win a big game on the road..we will NEED HFA throughout if we want to get to the SB..if we get #2 seed..i see us winning 1 playoff game

D is not going to hold all the way till the SB unless they play at home..
