Pat Kirwin talking heads award

Props to Pat Kirwin. Way back in training camp, he was the ONLY talking head who recognized that Lagarrette Blount could be a significant addition to the Patriots. Specifically, he said, "I can't wait to see what kind of role Bill Belichick has for a runner like that guy...." He was familiar with Blount and I think he saw Corey Dillon 2.0...

What do you do now if you are an opposing D-coordinator. After the last 2 games, you have to stop Blount. But, wow, it takes big brass ones to bring your safeties up into run support when Tom Brady is the QB.

I am more than happy to admit that I was not a huge fan of the move, nor did I see it as potentially having nearly the positivity that it has.

While everyone was concerned with getting some weapons for Brady.

Belichick was fixated on getting a weapon for Mankins.

I was always surprised by the negativity here. I figured, what's not to like? A 250 pound running back who had one 1000 yard season and breakaway ability? You can never have too many RBs and he seemed like, worst case, a really good back to spell Ridley.

The best thing is that, by splitting carries, the Pats haven't run either Riddley or Blount into the ground. Both are about as fresh as backs can be in the post-season.

I can't believe we got Blount for a guy who runs track and a 7th round pick... Yikes.
