There was a player named Nguyen and I believe I retired that pun with a Nguyen win reference.

Dat Nguyen. He was a LB for the Cowboys..

The Patriots are very heavy at DB with 11. And that includes Duke Dawson who hasn't seen the field yet. He could be another candidate for the IR-DTR

I wonder if the Pats would be the first team to have their top 3 picks end up on IR?

Unless they mean it with Bolden this year, someone on the current roster is living on borrowed time, and that doesn't count the Edelman situation. Being short at both WR and OL means two spots are needed, not just one, unless BB is going to gamble against injury in week one.

Can we stop trying to put Dawson and Michel on IR. They are both on the mend and nothing indicated IR when they got hurt. Right now there are enough healthy scratches to the 45 day active roster to carry them both if they still need time to mend. Putting them on IR means they can't even practice and would surely stunt there development. I expect both to contribute well before the 10 week IR window probably in the next few weeks.

It was reported today he is expected to be ready week 1

You could handle that depth from the practice squad. 7 Ol And 3 Wr plus 3 Te and 4 RBs active would not be out of whack. But then the guy you speak of would be hanging on until 1 injury, even not a very serious one.

Or they're going to try to pass someone through the waivers after things have settled down.

No one is TRYING to put them anywhere. Could you not over-react like a ninny?
It was Ryan Hannable's speculation about Michel.

I mentioned Dawson because he's not practiced with the team for 2 weeks and didn't play in any games.

Putting them on IR and designating them to return means they get to focus on getting healthy and they can still study the play-book and participate in game planning.

Not sure where you get 10 weeks from, but players who are DTR can return after 8 games. The rule was modified this year.

All the NFL's new rules for next season

Next, take a step back because the team needs 2 OL and a WR. The team is HEAVY at DB and D-Line. But those players are healthy. We know that Izzo isn't and is expected to be IRed tomorrow. So that still leaves them needing to free another slot for an OL. f

Has Matthew Slater returned to practice yet? He had been sidelined with a hamstring after missing some time last year with it as well. He might be another candidate for the IR.

One thing to keep in mind is vested players (4+ years of experience) contracts become guaranteed if they are on the roster for game one. That might come in to play for veterans like Bolden, Tobin or Schwenke. Only going to dress 7 OL for the game so why not take a look at younger players at those spots only to resign the vets if the don’t work out.
