I'm curious. What do you base 'solid vs the run' on? And where was this 'explosion' in actually getting to a QB?
Pryor was a nice story making the team. He played because we had no one else and played just as you would expect a rookie 6th round pick to play; not that well.
Look, I'm not saying he can't progress and make the team. I'm not saying he can't sneak on again like he did last year when Seymour was traded.
But if the 2 former 1st round picks that we brought in to play in his spot have anything left, he is 7th at best among the DL, and we are most likely to keep 6.
I'm sorry if that hurts peoples feelings but 27 players are going to cut.
The other two players being former 1st Rd picks has nothing to do w/where things are now. We are talking present and how these players will perform now and in the future. Pryor is explosive off the ball and has a combo of speed & power. His strengths will allow him to be a solid pass rusher from inside on 3rd down. Everyone complains about lack of pass rush and then we want to cut a kid who after a year in the program has improved on his weakness coming in to the Pats program, learning a new scheme. Not every DL has to be 6-5 310 run stuffer to play in BB's defense. Pryor brings things to the table other DL on this team can't offer.
In terms of the explosion question, I think Pryor showed he is an explosive DL during combine. What he did compares favorably with the 10 DTs in this past draft.
