Let's talk about current depth

* The entire purpose of discussing Depth: whether we should address it, via Trade or Free Agency.

* Is anyone vapid enough to suggest that Vereen + Ridley aren't virtual locks to make the roster??

* Given that, we are 4 Deep at RB, because Green is ours if we want him.

4 Deep.

And that's not including Clayton or Faulk or the other guys.

Any FOUR year old can see that our RB crew is light on Experience, but strong on Depth.

And yet this incredibly simple concept continues to elude...certain individuals.

If you are evaluating the depth of the team, and rookies figure to be in those spots, you have to consider the rookies, even if it makes the evaluation more difficult.
I would assume we are looking for a complete evaluation that is as accurate as possible rather than an incomplete one that is accurate only for the limited analysis that leaves out many players. Right?
Is evaluating depth at RB by saying we cant because they are rookie a better evaluation than evaluating the rookies the best that you can even though the evaluation is difficult?
Isnt I think better than I wont say?

I believe there WILL be some major contributors from this draft - how much, when (this year? next?) and at what position is a huge question mark just as it is every season.

History also tells us that some guys who aren't even on our radar screen will be good or great.

You need to factor that in for any assessment of roster depth - and if there's any positions where you're counting on rookies, there's a high likelihood you'll be disappointed.

I tend to think Belichick won't be counting on too many rookies to give him starts or depth, but all will shake out once they finally have a chance in camp.

Unfortunately the shortened offseason makes it more challenging, not less, for rookies to have an impact this year.

I think a lot of the production of rookies depends on their opportunity to play. Granted they must earn that role, but if you look at guys like Deaderick and Love (ones like you describe above and not expecting much but getting something) a lot had to do with there being a spot for them, while Price was much more blocked. Had we seen many WR injuries, Price would have been on the field, and no doubt been condisered more productive as a rookie.
