Let's focus on Positives. What next?

Then in rest of free agency bolster the defense first, easier to get good players on defense than offense, fill in some depth pieces in free agency along the offensive line.

If you do all that you can get 2nd and 3rd round picks for BPA and maybe bolster the defense.

IF you can get Barmore back next year and he is 100% then him and White can give you a pass rush, which they are lacking outside of White this year.
We need top help for all defensive units: DL, LB, and CB.

DL
re-sign or replace Wise
upgrade Ekuale and/or Pharms

LB
We need another stud.

CB
We have Gonzo, Marcus and aging 5'9" outside corner Jon Jones
and then?

I agree, hard to do it all in one year, but with all the issues on offense I think people might forget the defense needs help too, hopefully it is a good free agency year for defensive help and a deep defensive draft.

Strange that someone who rejects the approach bothers to open this thread.

We have far more poo flingers than cheerleaders, IMO.

The team does have some "legit positives".

Not enough to be a consistent winner never mind playoff team, but still, some legit positives.

It's a totally valid idea for some of us to want to see a discussion about the things that can be built upon.

Plenty of poo flinging threads to choose from, perhaps go there if you enjoy pain.
Gosh Bill. Love the pom poms, but the bootie shorts don't really work for you.

You be you, keep rocking that hair shirt and the crown of thorns.

Are we going to make one of these threads every week we lose? I agree the negativity is quite high right now but this is a professional sports team and they are paid to perform. The only positives are that some younger players are getting snaps. This is an extremely dysfunctional team and organization with cracks in the dam after only week 4.

I've been a Pat's fan for decades, and I have enjoyed every season without recourse to blowhard boosterism, fanboy delusion, or *********** happy talk. I am enjoying this season as well. I do appreciate the hair shirt reference though. I learned the term as a kid when I saw it applied to John Coltrane, so I take it as a compliment. Thanks for the memory.

And you could still be doing that if you hit the ignore button on a thread titled Let's Focus on Positives, but you seem to think it's your mission to have everyone else see the world through ****-stained glasses like you do, so here we are.

Enough of rants. We all know this season was a trial by fire and its living up to the expectations and no surprises here.

Having said that, how can we salvage this season without creating the Bryce young effect on Maye.

Let me start with positives and wishlists and let others continue to add.

Polk seems a keeper and has solid route running capabilities and hands. Very good wr 2. Douglas is open and just feels like AVP is not scheming enough to take advantage of his strengths.

Gonzalez looks like a bonafide stud and we just need one more tall CB to pair up with him to keep offenses at bay. That should be a priority in FA .

White and barmore could be beastly tandem and that should elevate the defense a whole lot. Get couple of rookie edge rushers next year to build depth.

The oline despite all injuries looked decent in 49ers game. Let's build on the momentum. I would want them to play players at their best position to build continuity and overcome weakness through scheming rather than changing personnel . That means move onwenu back to RG and keep Robinson as a backup guard.

Wish list

LT - Jacobs, Lowe, Thomas should be the depth chart
LG - Sow, Strange
C - Andrews, leverett
RT - Caeden Wallace/ Jordan
RG - onwenu, robinson

I feel Andrews is done for the season. Start experimenting out center with strange.

If Wallace becomes average RT and Jacobs a solid swing tackle and strange heir apparent for Andrews, we might have hit the lottery in oline with Starting LT the only major need. It's no guarantee that rookies outperform as LT. So best bet would be for Jacobs or Thomas or lowe to shine.

I have had enough with Osborne. He should be relegated.

Sign Gibson to long term contract . He is electrifying . He is the James white clone we have been searching for. Sadly van pelt doesn't know how to use him and has abysmal game planninG for screens .

I would want Baker and Boutte to alternate between games and see how they do.

Maye can start after the bye. That way we have a losing season already and maye is under no pressure .

If the health gods are kind to us, who knows we start making a run from this week .
Like what your thinking! I guess I can go back Into my optimism... ok.. 1st month of the season is over with.

We have a 4 game sample of what we need to do. Polk absolutely correct is a find and should be a starting WR..

If... just if... we can get a solid game of blocking up front then maybe we could do more and execute on offense.

On defense if Wilson, Bolden or dial can't show enough in practice each day to be on the field then maybe we need to be looking to add a veteran.

The team would like to hold maye out as long as possible so he plays on thier terms. That may not be possible depending if Brissett went down.

So hoping that they can start off a new month, and actually win a home game for a change.

I was genuinely worried about the tackles this year, and while that has born out, Lowe has far exceeded my expectations. I think he’s a depth player forced to be a starter, which I think is a little too much for him, but has proved to be a decent pickup from last year. I think Wallace is going to be good enough to be part of the line, too, even if I disagree with Wolf that he can be our LT.

LOL. Rest easy. I could not possibly care less what you think nor what delusions you feel compelled to entertain. Perhaps if your views cause you to be this fragile, they bear rethinking.

Yes, of course, we should all become miserable tough people, that's what the world needs. /s

What in the world are you talking about? I have told you I am enjoying this season, as I have every other. And if you are intimidated by a retired philosophy teacher sitting at home in his Barcalounger, tapping out trivialities in a chat space, your problems may run deeper than mere delusions about your football team.

Love Gonzales. Can’t say enough. This is the type of game changer NE needs to get as often as possible. Players like this are the ones who make the huge play when you need it and offer the consistency required to play winning ball.

Keeper x 1000

He's the kind of player you need to get in the first round, especially when you're picking top 15. Both of the Patriots dynasties were built (Brady aside, which is huge of course) by hitting consistently on first rounders. Seymour, Warren, Wilfork, then McCourty, Hightower, Jones, even Solder I would say was a solid addition (how much I wouldn't give for a Solder on this team right now...)

In the years between SB wins, it was guys like Maroney, Meriweather (not bad, but not great either), or at the end Wynn, Harry, Strange, etc. No surprise things became unsustainable, even when Brady was still here.

Hitting on first rounders is crucial to a team's year-in, year-out success. Gonzo looks like a good one, hopefully Maye is THE good one. Getting another player of that caliber in the first round next year would really go a long way to turning this around. Busting on that player would be a killer.

This team has very little to nothing going for it. I don't get how fanboys get on here and was philosophical about the "positives." Look at the last time the team was facing pretty much a complete rebuild (the Carroll/Belichick transition was nowhere near a rebuild - that team was stacked with Pro Bowl caliber players). The 2024 Pats are more akin to the 93 Patriots - high drafted qb, team coming off a disaster season...through 4 weeks the 93 team had two blowouts an OT loss, and a 3 point loss....the 24 team has a fortunate W, an OT L, and 2 blowouts. Those 93 Pats had a week 5 bye and came out of the bye a different team and won on the road - let's see how this garbage team responds. The 93 Pats got incrementally better each week, generally....this Krafty ****show has gotten worse each week. Mayo is a fraudulent coach - has no business being in this position other than Krafty Bob trying to win points with the HOF voters for hiring a minority coach. I wonder if Mayo realizes Krafty is using him a pawn to further his HOF street cred. Elliot Wolf drafted 8 players and NOT A SINGLE PLAYER has impacted this team. Polk has 61 yards through 4 ****ing games. The linemen are bums, Krafty Bob won't allow Maye on the field, and every other player is an absolute nothing so far. How many NFL teams get literally no production out of 8 draft picks other than "snaps played"? Krafty Bob, Mayo, and Wolf better pray that Maye shows something when he inevitably plays this season. Lets look at that 93 draft....we all know Bledsoe was apparently OK to start behind an OLine that started a rookie guard (rucci), and overrated and out of shape left tackle (armstrong), an alcoholic right tackle (harlow), a career backup center (lewis), and eugene ****ing chung. Bledsoe made it out alive those first four games and improved to the point where he had 8 tds and 1 pick over the final 4 game Pats wining streak. It look slike Krafty Bob isn't going to give Maye the luxury of learning. Vincent Brisby's first 4 games....11 catches 122 yards and a td...Chris Slade first four games....5 sacks and a forced fumble....Troy Brown was the starting punt/kick returner....shows how bad Wolf's draft was for a team that needed a home run...Wolf never got off the bench
For years Belichick got very little out of draft picks - 28 picks from 2018-2021 (these guys should be foundational players on your 2023 team and some on their second contract) and only FOUR guys will be suiting up vs Miami. Most got cut, some left via FA, and some are hurt....but this is what we could be looking at with this year's draft unless Maye is a home run.

Right: 1-3 each 4 games, and the last game a toss-up.

I agree and also had low expectations going into the season. We would also likely be 0-4 if Gesicki’s TD wasn’t incorrectly called back.

It’s ok to lose and I understand the multi-year process building a team takes. The problem for me is in how bad the team looks and it appears to be progressively getting worse. Many people on this forum seem to have created hills they’d like to die on and use feint observations (Polk runs good routes!) to act like the ownership, GM, and HC aren’t creating a train wreck.

On one extreme we have the non stop negativity but on the other end is toxic positivity. Neither opposite should expect anyone to join them just because negativity is reality or positivity is objectively good.

The idea is to be an almost complete team BEFORE the draft, with perhaps one key need to fill.
Or no major needs. The best position in the draft is to have the luxury of being able to go BPA. Once it becomes about need, you start making reaches. If we had a competent QB at all, we are drafting a generational WR prospect or a bonafide stud tackle.

Right: 1-3 each 4 games, and the last game a toss-up.
Every team on our schedule other than Jacksonville is getting better and better. I predicted 0-8 and 1-16 with a lone win against the colts. Perhaps 3-14 is achievable by taking a game against Miami.
