not giving Daniel Graham the big contract he wanted. He was a solid player for us and I have no issue with him leaving.. He seemed like a good guy but with limited talent. Something the Pats FO recognized.

Denver has racked up almost 80 points in two games. Where is Graham you might ask? no where, he's been pushed aside by last years draft pick. He currently has 2 receptions for the year. With this continued non play he'll be below his 33 receptions from last year...

We sometimes forget to remember for every bad draft pick, ie Chad Jackson, there is that smart move letting a Veteran walk away and let him get his money else where..

Thank you Bill and Scott for spending our funds wisely!

Re: Lets applaud the Pats FO for

I for one wish we still had Graham last year and this season. We could use his blocking, but obviously NOT at the Denver money.

Re: Lets applaud the Pats FO for

too expensive yes, but Tony Scheffler is a beast.

Re: Lets applaud the Pats FO for

The FO should be praised for letting Chad Jackson go because he does not have the talent to help us, but that is not true for Graham. Graham is a better blcoker than any of the TEs on our roster (and he has just as many receptions). Maybe his salary demands were too high, we will never know. But I can't see praising the FO over his departure.

i still don't understand how Watson learned nothing of blocking from Graham

U missed the point..

They spent the money wisely in different areas.. Ie keeping Moss and bringing in AD..

Had they spent the money on Graham and he been in the Super Bowl last year, this team would likely have gone 19-0. Had they spent the money on Graham, we wouldn't be getting treated to tight ends like Spach. He signed a 5 year, $30 million dollar contract. It's not as if he got Tom Brady money.

One word, delusional

One word, delusional

If you're having delusions, you should see a doctor. They have treatments for that sort of thing.

Re: Lets applaud the Pats FO for

I would hardly say Graham has been nowhere. He's just playing the same role that he did for us which is being one of the best blocking TEs in the league. I have a hunch he has had plenty do with with alot of those 80 points the Broncos have scored. On top of that, at least he's been able to make it on the field which is something that can't be said for Watson.

Great one.. Seriously if you think Graham would have made the difference, you have no idea how the game is played..

WOW..

Re: Lets applaud the Pats FO for

TE isn't all about catches. After watching David Thomas getting ragdolled all over the place against the Jets I can't believe anyone would suggest Graham wouldn't look great on the roster. Was he worth the money he got? I don't know, but it's certainly not the case that we should be thankful he's gone.

Re: Lets applaud the Pats FO for

He did get a huge contract - "almost peyton manningish" for tight ends. Daniel Graham himself was surprised at the money they were offering him.

Its also delusional to think that Graham would have brought last years super bowl for us. Might have , might not. The FO looked at Watson, Thomas on the roster and felt okay with the personnel.

Re: Lets applaud the Pats FO for

Graham is a top notch blocking TE, something the team could presently use with Watson dinged up and Dave Thomas' pretty godawful showing in protection so far.

That said, it's not like Graham hasn't had his share of health issues the FO was concerned about, and it's also likely that Graham wouldn't have stayed with the Pats either way, as he wanted to go somewhere he'd have an opportunity to be a bigger part of the passing game.

Premise would have been better if we hadn't traded up to tke him in the middle of the 1st.

Agreed that a great blocking tight end is still...a blocking Tight end.

The irony of this statement is delicious, especially considering that it was the failure of the o-line and tight ends in their blocking that killed the team in the Super Bowl. I suggest you read this to help you get aquainted with the game:

maybe i didn't word it right.. He was a solid player for us.. A GREAT blocker.. but he got big bucks to be a top TE.. something he is not.. We didn't strap ourselves with a bad contract.. By letting him walk, we were able to bring in AD, Moss and Welker last year..

Bottom line we used the money more wisely.. Moss and Welkers probably wouldn't be here if we had Graham..

None of us can know how last year would have gone if Graham was on the team, what we can know, is that the one glaring weakness this team had in the Superbowl is Grahams greatest strength on the field: Blocking

How many times are you going to edit your post?
