Least favorite Patriots teams

I started watching in 76 at the age of 8 so that was pretty lucky.
This season is to the Patriots what 1967 is to the Red Sox.
The 81 team was probably the most frustrating year for me given I was just a kid and was coming off 5 straight years where we were really good.
Best 2-14 team ever. Their point differential was 48 points.

48. Just stop, and think about that.

Everyone, local and national media, opponents, their fans and negative locals had a field day this whole season.

The fact that 1981 was the one (1) losing season for the Patriots in a thirteen year stretch is never mentioned by anyone (besides me).

The Rust and Mcpherson years were the most painful to watch. Again we were coming off of a string of very successful years and then the injuries and age caught up to us but those teams were also not coached well and lacked talent.
Not keeping Flutie, making him the starter and hiring a real coach who would at least play him was suicide.

Especially tragic because those teams did have enough talent (except at quarterback) to at least be in the playoffs. It's true.

Enough for Doug, anyway.

Closer to the first half of the 1966 season is my guess...

Agreed. It's one of the main reasons why the bounce-back to PO contention happened so quickly.

They still had some names from the past glory but most of them were in decline and much like the last few years bad drafting was catching up to them. Cortez Kennedy >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Chris Singleton + Ray Agnew.
