Lazar on WR Draft

My binky in this draft is Xavier Restrepo. We need a vet X receiver on the outside in FA. Then pair Restrepo with Pop in a dual slot like Edelman and Amendola. Butte or Bourn then at Z. That's not the greatest offense yet, but I think we need to build the lines first and then WR will follow. The list of good WR hitting FA next year is long. I would not mind switching Pop or Bourne for Kirk, Kupp, or Deebo. I suppose you have to keep Polk one more season and Baker has to be the second coming of Randy Moss to make this team after training camp.

If Hunter is gone and an opportunity is there to trade down then yeah, take it. Get a solid tackle prospect and have ammo to grab a solid receiver with a move up into the late 1st. The defense will be easier to patch up via free agency.
Agreed Ross... closer we get to FA I feel less confident we are going to sign another teams start OTs.. take Campbell at LT maybe lowe can learn from a rookie how to be an NFL OT as a back up.

Keep pop add kupp or Deebo

I just don't like him. He rubbed me the wrong way last year with statements that sounded like entitlement. I think his frame won't be durable either.
Pop is harmless.. he was speaking out of frustrations.. you would too having Brissett as AB

The Draft is loaded for the Defense with more more value/depth in what you are drafting.

You're basically fired.

yes we need stop with these “future/long term players”, we need to win every year! herm edwards would agree
Agree. There is that balance of winning now but ensuring the short-term and possible short-sighted decisions don't impact the future (cap space, draft picks, young players blocked from developing).

I'm all for winning now as long as it's prudent and the action has a realistic outcome. For instance, giving up the the 4th overall pick plus a ton of cash for a 30 year old Myles Garrett doesn't make sense for this team right now when it needs talent all over the roster.

Now, the move does make sense if they are the Buffalo Bills who are knocking on the doorstep.

Golden definitely caught my eye during the CFP. I don't think his ceiling is quite as high as Tre Harris though.

I'm given to understand that the Rams cannot afford to tag Alaric Jackson (and the same regarding the Ravens and Stanley). That doesn't mean that they won't resign, but it does mean that if they're not tagged (especially Jackson), that the Patriots who have the money to do so, have a much better chance of landing Jackson. And, given his age, he could solve our LT problem for more than just 2 years or so. If they get Stanley, they'll absolutely need to have his replacement drafted and ready to go within the next two years.

Davante Adams has a year or two in him and if coming at a reasonable contract , can be an intriguing option.
It seems weird thinking that Adams may end up a Patriot, still got the talent to play top class, but would he come here, I'm not so sure.

I see thanks for this information very interesting.. personally I'd prefer Jackson who's what 26? I just know starting OTs teams value and those guys are rarely available. Obviously FA is before the draft so FA definitely dictates how we approach the draft. Aside from the cap space we have that sweet 3rd rounder as well as a caveat for a trade for in wich I hope a WR. So if we signed Jackson what do you feel we do at #4 ?

I'm guessing they try to grab one of Stanley or Jackson and settle for someone like Cooper Kupp on the WR side - there are no elites to be had, and so a reliable experienced adult in the WR room is worth a lot. That would open up a lot of possibilities on the draft side - could focus on BPA rather than need. There doesn't seem to be a lot of spread between the fourth and say tenth picks, so don't expect to get a big haul for dropping down a few slots (unless someone really needs a QB).

Your right. Adding at least one WR of the caliber of kupp allows everyone to play naturally.. what we need is efficiency on offense that starts up fron with the protections. Jackson should be the preferred choice due to his age. Playing with Drake should allow Jackson to become an ALL Pro at his position. I still believe we could trade for kupp or Deebo and add another veteran like Adams or kirk once released.

I wonder what Josh thinks of Polk and Baker?
Based on what we do in free agency and the draft should tell us.
If Polk and Baker were both in wasted picks, it would be crazy if Wolf comes out unscathed on that.

I would think he likely feels he could develop them and give them the coaching they lacked. If Josh can't get anything out of them then I guess we could say they were wasted picks. Wolfie made comments about polk and baker when mayo was fired about they weren't developing.

LSU WRs are a good bet.

Those negligent homicide and felony hit and run charges aren’t a great look for him right now though.
If "good bet" was on purpose, may I be the first to congratulate you.

Regardless how he feels that shouldn't be a deterrent in Drafting at least Two. Gotta let em know we are Not! depending of them.

Yep. Protecting Maye with a Solid OL next season and beyond is critical (a long with a solid running game and increased RB talent this season). Just enough decent WR's that can help Maye further develop for even just next season until they can get a young and true #1 and #2 WR, etc. will be good enough for next season.

I'd prefer Jackson too because he's young. And, with good OL coaching could be even better. He wouldn't have to be a short term answer at LT. At #4, I'd take Abdul Carter (but he won't be there anyway). After him, I'd want to come away from this draft with Mason Graham or Jalon Walker in the 1st Round (even in a trade-back. I suspect that Walker is going to be a stud, even to the point that I would take him at #4). We also need one or two quality RB's. Snagging a WR that can turn out to be a legit #2 WR would be a must.
