Couldn't get to the radio today until now. Missed the first half hour.

Would pick Russell Wilson over Andrew Luck in an one game situation.

Thinks Luck has tremendous weapons. Loves Hilton. Thinks Allen is a great TE.

Not a big Fleener fan.

Will find spots when Luck wants to go to Hilton and put Revis on him. Thinks Collins and Hightower on Allen in the red zone. Expect the Pats to come up with a great game plan to stop Luck and stick to it.

Any Qb with a stout D has an incredible advantage. They can be patient and not make terrible, rushed decisions. Luck needs to carry his team. Wilson does not.

In Luck's 3 playoff games, they have allowed an average of 37ppg. Some of those are on Luck. Most are not. His comeback vs KC last year was incredible.

I guess my point is that I would take Luck with SEA's defense.

Stud of the first 9 games
1. Brady - Outside of one game was good enough in the early games and a stud the last five
2. Gronk - Can't put above Brady because he played so little early in the year.
3. Hightower - Made big plays early. Doing a great job in the Mayo role

Duds
1. Devey
2. Fleming - Probably be first, but played so few snaps.
3. Hooman - Understands why they have him for his versatility, but just not that good. Thinks Wright should be out there more.

Luck wouldn't be Luck with Seattles defense and Seattles defense may not be Seattles defense with Luck.
This is part of the issue with comparing players.
If you put up big stats because your D is weak you get overrated because of them, and then people assume you would do the same with a better D. In many ways they are interelated.
There have been many QBs who 'never had a good D' but in a lot of cases they have much to do with that. Don Shula didn't forget about defense when he drafted Marino. What he did was fall in love with throwing the ball, and therefore made it more difficult for his defense.
Style of play creates the perception of quality in a QB and also the quality of a defense.

Don't understand Fleming, as he played very well as a 6th lineman in jumbo packages, and got accolades from BB. His one start wasn't great but not terrible, and it was his first time playing RG, plus he's a rookie. I'd say Alfonzo Dennard - hasn't really been much of a part of an elite secondary.

BTW, Felger cannot shut up. Whenever a customer calls, Felger dominants the conversation.

Caller said that Luck is dealing with too many systems. Bedard disagrees. Says he is running the same system he ran in college with Pep Hamilton as his OC. Says Arians' system was about the same as the one he has now.

Did he really play poorly when he was on the field though?

On the Vollmer contract. Pats did it to:

- Move money into next year
- Keep player happy
- Helps the team to give Vollmer rest for the playoffs

Bedard: "according to Miguel from PatsCap it's almost 700 thousand they moved from this year's cap to next year's cap"

Thinks they will play very cautious against Luck. Have one guy to spy him. Will pick spots to blitz Luck. Run "must rush", won't let ends get behind the QB.

I would love to see Jonathan Casillas or Nate Ebner as a LB/S spy in a 4-2-5 big nickel base. Remember how the Pats used Dane Fletcher so effectively as a spy against Baltimore?

I guess I missed it, but apparently Bedard said in the first half hour that Belichick leaks stories like trading Brady after the season to light a fire under players' butts.

Why would Tom need his fire lit? It's been burning like a wildfire for 15+ years. Or was that just a made up example?

Feels the excuse making in the media for Luck is ridiculous. Feels people overstate his lack of weapons and running game and defense. Says the weapons are way better than Brady's. Says Ahmad Bradshaw is a good RB.

Feels the Colts have a legit good defense when Vonte Davis is on the field. Almost as good as the Pats' defense.

Says this game is a must win for Luck to be as good as people say he is.
