Landry Jones expected to start for Steelers (Roethlisberger: torn meniscus)

All i care about is winning sunday, being 6-1 and having the tiebreaker over pitt.

Couldnt care less about them potentially having an excuse. Are people forgetting were playing the steelers? Ben or no ben, They will use the blue-ness of the sky as an excuse if they felt like they could convince themselves its a valid gripe.

A late addition to the list of contenders for "worst post of the year" but I do believe this one catapulted straight to the top.

What a brilliant, compelling argument. It says far more about your intelligence and maturity than I ever could.

What happened to them vs Miami ? Was that loss directly related to losing Ben ?

I had the game on in the background, but 95% of my attention was on the Pats game so I can't say I was watching it closely. From what I did see, I'll say that it definitely seemed to have a big impact, although the Dolphins may have won anyway. Their ground game dominated the Pittsburgh D (60 of Ajayi's 200 yards were pure garbage time, but the other 140 were legit). Roethlisberger threw 2 picks that were maybe attributable to issues with his knee, he looked like he was planting a little awkwardly and one of them actually happened on the play where the injury occurred. I've seen Roethlisberger throw a lot of similarly questionable picks while healthy, though, so hard to attribute those solely to the injury.

I agree. It underscores that fact that I, along with literally everyone on this forum, possess far more intelligence than you do, and that in only one month you've already claimed the title of dumbest poster on PatsFans.

I wouldn't get too excited yet - the Pats D under Matt Patricia has made guys like Tyrod Taylor, Jason Campbell, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Ryan Tannehil look like all pros. Pats D needs to get some early 3 and outs so the offense, hopefully, can get up on Pittsburgh early and take the crowd out...kinda like 04 AFC title game...

I knew that something would happen to the Steelers as soon as I bought tickets to this game.

I always wait until the week prior to the game, but went against my better judgement. Tickets will be a dime a dozen now as Pitt fans bail.
any chance you're going to the rest of the patriots' away games? maybe we can take up a collection on patsfans to send you.

Hopefully he can make Landry Jones look like Aaron Rodgers.

I hate rapists. Call me crazy. I can respect his ability, but that's as far as it goes. I think the guy is garbage and would never root for or respect him as a person. Winston too. Hope he gets paralyzed and ends up in a wheelchair on a street corner begging for change.

I wouldn't go that far...but yeah, I don't like Roethlisberger whatsoever

Did McDonalds give you a raise?

Congrats.

? not sure what that was for. you posted that roethlisberger got injured after you bought your tickets, so i was making a joke that if we sent you to the rest of the patriots' away games, we could get similar "luck" for the patriots. sorry if my attempt at humor failed.

Is it Roethliesbergers knee or his ever expanding melon? Guys face just gets fatter and fatter....

As a Steelers fan this is obviously a major bummer. And I doubt many Pats fans will look at this as anything but a major, welcome development.

But that said...this just kind of sucks as a football fan, right?

With Roethlisberger out, there is likely less incentive for the Steelers' many other injured starters to rush back one week ahead of a bye week--for a game that has all the makings of a blowout.

Cam Heyward, Ryan Shazier, Marcus Gilbert, Sammie Coates, Marcus Wheaton...even Ladarius Green (PUP'd but eyeing Pats week supposedly)...these are all guys that would probably benefit from another two weeks off. I'm sure that won't be *their* mindset (I'm sure every player thinks they can win every single game), but you've got to wonder if the trainers and even the coaches won't be more apt to hold these guys out with Roethlisberger sidelined. All of a sudden what looked like a marquee matchup ends up looking more like a preseason game.

Understand, I think the Patriots would probably win even with the Steelers at full strength.

But it's not clear how many more opportunities Brady and Ben will have to play each other, and for the second straight year we're missing out on what could have been epic, fireworks-type games. (Remember, Bell, Bryant and Blount all missed last year's game).

Anyway, I think this will be a laugher (I'm surprised the line is only 7.5 actually!) Hope springs eternal I guess....But at the end of the day it's Landry Jones vs Tom F. Brady. Come on

Welcome back, and I hear what you're saying. It's a tough sell, though, particularly in a season where the Patriots QB was banned for 4 games because ..... well, for no reason. The league made it abundantly clear that it doesn't care about the "football fan", so you're going to find a lot of people here that think the non-Patriots portion of the league can go **** in its collective hat.

We'll see Ben in Foxboro for the Divisional round.

Well then!

I''ve been on record here stating that the suspension was absurd, and Goodell has been a runaway and arbitrary tyrant who has cared about nothing but branding since coming into the league.

Still, in a year where there just seems to have been a LOT of borderline unwatchable football, I was genuinely looking forward to this game.

I hear you.

As a side note, I think Bryant getting the year is yet another example of the asininity of league's policies.

There was a lot of talk about Steelers being elite... but they have two horrible losses against teams with middle of the road records, before they lost Ben. Time will tell if the Steelers were really good. If Ben has an extended absence its over for them.
