While our schedule is much tougher on paper, those 1st 5 teams have gone through some serious changes.
JAC & SEA maybe least of all, but Kubiak gone matters, SB hangover matters, lead RB matters. PIT & BUF have new HC's and team structures, and LV is a rebuilding mess. So, the offense that may give us the biggest test might be JAC.
Either way, I think we can go 3-2 to start.

So without knowing whether they tried and failed you criticize them for not trying?

Not quite. They decided to forego further possibilities when they under no immediate necessity to do so. I think that unwise. Waiting, that is, offered the possibility of something better, so there was an "opportunity cost" unnecessarily incurred.

This is not a big deal to me, by the way, but dumb is dumb, even on a modest scale.
