If you need checks and balances for your coach, you have a coach you don't trust.
If you find the right coach, you should trust him to work with the scouts to find the players that fit his system. That's how you win in the NFL. That plus consistency.
But hey, if you think you know more about football than a man who has obsessed over it for 60 years, then you might make the mistake of hiring coaches who are not cut out for it.
In such a situation, you need checks and balances. Unless, of course, your checks and balances are even worse than the coach.
In that case, just go with the coach until the day comes when you look in the mirror and realize the problem is you.
