Faulk’s close but far away - BostonHerald.com

After reading this,I am very sad.

Kevin was the heart and sole of the running game for so many years and now he sits at home practically begging for the Pats to give him a call and re-sign him.

No one has told Kevin that the Pats probably have moved on and retirement is just a formality unless there is a spread of injuries to the RB corps.

The guy was just the best 3rd down back I have ever seen and the screen pass was something he was so good at......I nearly cried seeing how much he loves football and the team but sits saddened with no job and wanting to play badly.

If retirement becomes official within the next few weeks like I expect, there better be a 'Kevin Faulk Appreciation Night' like they did with Troy Brown in 2008.

For all the wonderful moments Kevin gave us,it requires an appreciation night.

Did you read the article? He isn't sitting around begging the Patriots to tell him where he stands. He came right out and said he spoke with BB and they are on the same page about where he stands.

I'm baffled that Kevin has not figured this out yet. I'm baffled at why Bill won't give him a call.

Jeez. Read the friggin' article. Faulk and Belichick are talking. Quote:

"In terms of contact with the team, Faulk has spoken with Patriots coach Bill Belichick. They appear to be on the same page with regard to the running back’s future. Faulk knows and understands the deal, and where Belichick stands.

“Me and Bill talked. We talked about football,” Faulk said. “We also talked about life after football in general. That relationship is there. That relationship is going to be there. So I’m going to continue on training, and see what happens in the next month, month-and-a-half, two months.” "

If they need him, he'll be in uniform at some point this year. If not, it's Happy Trails.

Direct snap to Faulk FTW.

Love you, Kevin. You and Troy, Messrs. Patriot.

If Woodhead or Vereen suffer a season ender, I wouldn't mind if they gave him a look

He WILL be a NE Patriots coach at some point in the future....bank on it. But now, just an insurance policy.

If you can read between the lines, its obvious the guy still has a lot of heart for the game and wants to play badly but the Pats simply don't have room on the roster for him and also see that his legs and speed aren't there anymore....

If his speed and legs were as strong as his heart and desire to play again,he could play until he was 50 ....sadly,they aren't anymore and anyone who has seen the Faulk from the past and the current version can see the changes.

If you follow him on Twitter you can tell he knows he's only getting a call if injuries etc strike the team. In the meantime he's staying ready and enjoying time with his family and friends.

Me thinks that we will resign him soon.............. To a 1-day contract so that he can retire a Patriot. That's the closest he is gonna get to being on this team.

Love you Kevin. It was fun while it lasted.

He hasnt played for any other team so they dont need to sign him for him to retire a Patriot.

Also clearly he isnt ready to retire and is willing to wait by the phone in hopes that at some point this season the Pats will need him. And IMO this further goes to show how much of the Mother F'ing MAN he is. Dude just wants to play and refuses to do it anywhere else. If the only way he can help this team is as an emergency contact then thats what he will do. :rocker:

If there is one moment in Kevin Faulks career I will forever remember is that playoff game in 2009 against the Ravens.

The Pats were being pummeled 24-0 in the second quarter...everyone on the team seemed dazed and incoherent except for one guy that was noticeably 'still with his head in the game'....that man was Kevin Faulk who gathered the offense on the sideline into a huddle and literally screamed at them to get thier act together, take thier heads out of thier azzholes and get back in the game.

The Pats responded a little bit after that to make it a somewhat respectable finish, but I believe Kevin showed that day how much he meant to this team,in the field AND in the locker room.

He will be missed .....the last running back I felt this sad about into retirement was Mosi Tatupu after his Patriots career ended in 1990 and the following year he went to the Rams.

I remember when he clearly hurt his shoulder in that game and his arm was dangling at his side and he clearly ignored the coaches screaming at him to come out of the game. And that too was after the Ravens had opened up a huge lead.

I think the Jeff Demps signing is another signal that Faulk's time with the Pats is over. Sad, but time to move on. Thanks for a great run, Kevin.

Faulk need to understand it is time to retire he had a excellent career and I am sure he could join the Patriots coaching staff. But BB gave him his farewell tour last year and now he is just being greedy expecting another sentimental roster spot.

Then why wouldn't you say that instead of the misrepresentation of the article you posted.

What an incredibly harsh thing to say about a guy that was such a huge part of our greatest years as Pats fans.

Thanks for all the memories, Kevin.

Harsh would been saying it last year. Now its just telling the truth.

He's a football player who wants to play football. Oh damn, let's tar and feather the guy.
